"Perfect what I need it for. I wanted a way to record the location of tombstones in cemeteries. It is easy for a beginner to use. The pics get better as I get more familiar with the camera. I get several request each month for pictures and now I can provide the gps location for others to find the gravesites in the cemetery. Great for updating family ancestry."

"i have owned canon cameras for as long as I can remember.
I tried this samsung, because the reviews were very good on dpreview.
what is disappointing is the camera does not come with a seperate charger. Canon cameras always do. so< you can't charge your extra battery while you use the camera.
second, NO MANUAL.. whats up with that? You have to print and 8x11 novel. Thats hard to carry around and makes it very impractical to refer to the manual when you are out.
finally, the GPS is useless.. it really does not work as cleanly and smoothly as stated.
Now, the good stuff.. the camera is failrly easy to use and so far the pictures are very good. hoprfully i will love all the images so much i can forget the annoying shortfalls ."

Cons: Poor quality, no charger, no manual

Poor menus / terrible web site

"Trying to figure out the menu system is an all-day affair.

One example: trying to get the GPS to work. When you use the option, you get "no maps: go to www.samsung.com." When you go there you can't search for "GPS" or use the downloads page (which only includes manuals). Horrendous. I've spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to change the focus type and another 1 hour on the GPS. Not intuitve so far..."

Pros: 15x zoom

Cons: Did not meet expectations, terrible menus, poor web site, doesn't save settings, gps almost impossible to use

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
