Not a good overall buy - camera has many problems
Date: December 4, 2008
"This camera is rather nice and has a good set of features (HD video, 14.7 MP, Touch screen) in a very portable package. The touch screen worked great. I went out this weekend to shoot pictures and video and found that the camera has a problem with the 30 FPS mode. There is a flicker every so often. However, the still pictures came out surprising detailed and clear. But, as I said, the video was kind of disappointing. I noticed, as the previous reviewer did, that upon playing back the video, it seems to be jumpy or skipping like old 8 mm movies. I also found that the captured sound was muddy and distorted, e.g. like the audio circuits in the camera went into overload. Having discovered the disappointing audio during this live event, and the flicker, II may take this one back and replace it in case there is a problem just with this camera."

Nice camera, some reservations
Date: November 18, 2008
"I purchased this camera because of the nice set of features (HD video, 14.7 MP, Touch screen) in a very portable package. The touch screen is definitely nice and worked great. Having the camera only 1 week now, I did venture out over the weekend to shoot pics and video of a drum clinic at a music store. The pics came out surprising well detailed and bright. The video was kind of disappointing though. I noticed, as the previous reviewer, that upon playing back the video, it seems to be jumpy or skipping. Sort of like old 8 mm movies but nowhere as bad. I used a Sandisk Extreme III SDHC memory card. Also, being near a loud amplifier, I discovered the captured sound was muddy and distorted, e.g. like the audio circuits in the camera went into overload. Especially during low freq bass drum notes or loud volumes. Having discovered the disappointing audio during this live event, I attempted to look for some type of audio level recording controls in the camera to adjust levels, BUT no option exists on this camera. VERY disappointing. However, low volume passages recorded extremely well. One small, but useful feature ABSENT from this camera is an on screen VOLUME control when playing back videos. Also, I couldn't find any menu to help me understand how much memory I was consuming for my videos and pictures. Finally, I'm surprised there's no option to shoot a "YouTube" formatted video from the camera. I know there's other cameras that have this feature. Actually, a very useful and practical feature to have today. All in all, this could be a GREAT little camera, when these issues are corrected and enhancement added in a future firmware update. Please hurry Samsung!"

HD video skipping
Date: November 14, 2008
"Camera has great manual image controls, and the touchscreen is nice, but the HD video stutters (ie: not true 30fps).
Google around for "NV100HD skipping" and you'll find a sample video demoing this problem - every 8th frame or so is a dupe of the previous frame, causing a stuttering effect in recorded video (verfied with Avidemux). This happens regardless of the SDHC speed you're writing to - I've tested mine with a Sandisk Extreme III 30MB/sec 8GB card and can't get the skipping to go away.
The previous model NV24HD doesn't seem to exhibit this problem - I've loaded various NV24HD test videos from around the web and there are *no* duplicate frames.
Argh!"

First Month
Date: November 13, 2008
"I bought the Samsung TL34 HD the day before leaving for a months trip in China and Asia. I bought an 8 Gig SD card for the camera as well. For the first part of the trip the camera worked great, I was able to take lots of pictures and everything seemed fine. Buy the way - I love the 3" screen and touch screen system. It works almost as well as my 3G iPhone touch screen.
After two weeks I took the memory card out and put in a new memory card. The new card was a 4 Gig SD card. After about 200 picture I kept getting an error on the camera that the said "Card Error!". I bought a second 4 Gig SD card and took 10 more pictures.
Once home I tried the 8 Gig card in my PC, printer, other PCs and could not read it. Also the first 4 Gig SD card gives the same error!
So, now I have 4 weeks of photos on 2 SD cards that can not be read! At least I have my last 10 pictures.
