Great addition to my bedstand!

"This is not a media dock, its a charging dock, which also seems to help the alarm clock function.. before i got this, my alarms would sometimes just not go off.. or id wake up with no battery left in my phone after having it at 100% before sleeping... no more problems now... i do suggest downloading night clock... is a very attractive alarm clock app for the dock mode."

"Good design and convenient charger. "Desk Home" application is decent, automatic and easily disabled if unwanted. Problem with the Speaker line out, even with froyo 2.2, is it does let you have sound, but the quality is poor/muted sounding. also, it only works when you use the MUTE icon on the "Desk Home" screen. Along with media/USB limitations it poses an annoying inconvenience as it would other wise be a "5 star" dock.
Hope for the possibility of software updates to fix these bugs. I would raise my rating if/when updates come out."

Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, convinient, well built

Cons: Did not meet expectations, needs speaker out fix, "desk home" app not customizable

"I have owned this for about a month. I love it but the app that runs with it needs modification. First of all, you need to have Android 2.2 (Froyo) to use the audio out. That would be a big PLUS. Also the weather only updates over ATT 3G or EDGE, NOT WiFi. That needs to be fixed. If you dont turn off wifi, it keeps trying to update. Plus it would be nice if you could sync with computer while it is in the dock. So Samsung, release Froyo, fix the app, and you will probably sell alot more of these."

The dock does charge the phone but be wary of the Dock App

"This dock does exactly what it says it does, offers a convenient place to dock and charge your phone. I'll have to wait for the Froyo update to get the Audio out to work though.
One BIG warning though. The dock app should not be left running, I know that AMOLED screens don't 'burn in' but they do develop image retention issues if a single image is left on for too long. This was especially apparent on the high contrast white lettering of the app screen the screen developed 'yellow ghosting' of the white lettering and all the white items in the background picture.
I had to turn my phone off for 24 hours to clear this issue."

"Bought this dock thinking that it would solve my problem of having to constantly connect/disconnect my headphones at work when I had to leave my desk and didn't want to leave my phone behind but also didn't want to drag the headphones along (e.g. going to a meeting). Set it up this morning and liked the design but was almost immediately disappointed -- even alarmed -- by the many, MANY deficiencies. This is nothing more than an expensive, glorified charger.

1. The headphone output is awful. There is constant electronic "interference" type noise no matter what headphones I tried (including my preferred set, the ones that came with my Captivate). And since the dock doesn't register the headphones being connected as one would expect, the 5.1 output option isn't available and any third-party software that improves headphone output (i.e. Voodoo Control Plus) doesn't work, either.

2. The preinstalled Desk Home app works okay with calendar and weather. But the supposedly newer version "Samsung Desk Home" downloaded from the Android Market removes the ability to control what weather is displayed, so all I see is my location and 00*C. Compounding the issue, the calendar display overlays the weather, so I can't read the right 1/3 of the calendar.

3. The Desk Home app takes over and the only way to get back to the real Home screen is to exit Desk Home.

Honestly, I love Samsung products and have owned MANY over the years (TVs, printers, cameras, and phones) and this is by far the steamiest pile I've ever bought with the Samsung label. Utterly useless to me and a massive waste of money. (Since it was purchased online, the cost to send it back to the seller would more or less offset any refund, so I'm stuck with it.)"

"This desk cradle looks nice on my desk but it lacks a couple of key features to make it really perform the way it should. It charges the Samsung Captivate via a power cord, not USB so you aren't able to sync music, photos, or other media between the phone and your computer while it is in the cradle. Also, the software (DeskHome) has a couple of bugs in it that make it not worth the effort in my opinion....when you plug your phone into the charger, the temperature display on the phone always says 32 degrees (or 0 if you set the display to celsius) and it tries to reload info every 30 seconds or so but nothing ever changes.

Bottom line, if all you need is a charger and you want the phone to sit on your desk this will work but so would a micro USB cable and that would let you sync files to and from your phone and computer. If there were a way to connect the cradle to a computer via USB (like other phone cradles), I wouldn't mind the software bugs but the not connecting to the computer makes me give this product a low rating."
