"I'm very happy with this as it was a main driver for the purpose of me buying this TV. I have multiple Rokus around the house and wanted to remove that and have better support built in without having an extra piece of hardware in the middle.
The development team keeps up and submits updates to the application from what I have seen so far and the only downside the complexity with Samsung. I'm hoping they become more developer friendly."

"This app is just about the greatest thing that happened to the samsung app store. Forget, allshare or any other DLNA based software, Plex just exceeds it by a huge number of features.
Where should I start - for 1 the computer running the Plex Server which you can get freely easily on their website - catalogs all your digital files, be it photos videos or audio. This is set into self defined groups. Plex will do its best to retrieve all possible data on the movie or music - while you can edit everything to the finest detail.
The plex app allows for a direct integration to the server - you can see your files - their descriptions and search by pretty much any information thats in the descriptions.
Where should I start - for 1 the computer running the Plex Server which you can get freely easily on their website - catalogs all your digital files, be it photos videos or audio. This is set into self defined groups. Plex will do its best to retrieve all possible data on the movie or music - while you can edit everything to the finest detail.
The plex app allows for a direct integration to the server - you can see your files - their descriptions and search by pretty much any information thats in the descriptions.
There is maybe 1 little caveat - Its not installed already when you get your TV or BluRay player!"

"Even though I think that Samsung TV's have a great picture, there are several out there that have the same good quality. The Plex client is the primary reason I bought a Samsung TV. It provides a great and intuitive interface to all my media. I don't use Plex for music. I have a Squeezebox that handle my music. Plex is for video.
Samsung need to treat the Plex developers with special care!"

"I have been using PLEX since its infancy. My only reason for purchasing my Samsung TV was because of how the PLEX app looked and worked on the TV. I would absolutely recommend a Samsung TV with the integration of Plex and the Plex Media Server software. Those people that gave a poor rating didn't take the time to properly configure their PLEX setup. Kudos to the app developers!"

I have been following the development of this app from the first day. This app has so much more potential, however due Samsung's poor developer support and testing turnaround time, progress has been limited.
People experiencing problems usually have a bad network setup or the PMS is not hosted on good hardware.

"I paid WAAAAAAY too much for my TV but with this app I am finally getting my money's worth. I don't know much about the app yet but it is SUPER easy to use! Drop your videos in a folder and pick em up on your TV. That simple. Get this app and make the TV worth the money!"

"It's the only app I'll use on my Samsung TV. The current version works great for playing movies and TV shows from my HTPC across my home network. The next version will have support for myPlex. Once this is available, my brother will be able to connect to my HTPC and stream movies and TV shows.
Plex is by far the best media center software I've used (and I've tried a lot of them) and this app is a great addition to the suite."

"Years ago I bought a C-model and I was happy with it but I did not have any particular preference for a Samsung TV set. Then I discovered (and installed) Plex. Suddenly my TV became an home theater displaying my movie/video collection without the need of complicated and often stuttering connections via other instruments. Even my wife and children are now able to see anything without me being present (to show them which button to push etc.)... A huge accomplishment! When, a couple of months ago, I had to buy a new TV the choice for a Samsung was immediate and only based on the possibility to install Plex thereon..."
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, easy to install, easy to use

"I like other reviewers have bought my SAMSUNG TV's purely on the PLEX app. I first saw it at a friends and bout a PS60e6500 60 inch Plasma because of Plex. It handles the metada beautifuly. I also bought another 2 60 plasmas - same model for my dad and sister as they wanted to use plex purely on the TV. Make no mistake - if you have Samsung a PC and some movies or TV series on your computer. You want to play them through this. It works no problem.. Just waiting now on the update as that is scheduled to support music."

"Ive got 3 Samsung TVs due to Plex. The sole reason I bought them was the Plex client. Its by far the best media manager/client setup there is. I can start a movie on my TV, and resume it on my phone later or vice versa. Its UI is outstanding, and compared to samsungs own allshare, its a hundred times better.
The only thing its lacking is myPlex support. If it gets that, my mom and dad would also buy Samsungs, and connect to my server over internet. For the lack of that, im deducting a star for features.
Its an absolutely fantastic app, and was what made me choose Samsung over LG."

"I've been a user of plex for many years. I've always used HTPCs to run the Plex client but since buying my 65ES8000 I've gotten rid of them and use Plex on my Samsung TV.
There is only one draw back. Samsung are extremely slow in turning around updates from the Plex developers, many many versions have been submitted for approval and still we're waiting due to slow turn arounds...Samsung you need to get on top of this, work WITH your app developers BEFORE they drop support for your SmartTV's.
Bottom line, if Samsung lose Plex support I'll be looking for another TV manufacturer."

"First of all: the app is great - I'm using it together with my Linux Plex Server. Handling and connectivity is great!!
Streaming works like a charm, and once you know how to deal with 3D Movies even this works flawless.

But in my opinion there are 2 nasty shortcomings:
1. Plex currently does not support Video_TS Playback!!
2. Currently only Video Media is supported by the Samsung Client - more features (especially Musik-Streaming) would be really nice!!

"Pretty much the only usefull app on he Samsung Market. Plex is an excellent media server, I would go so far as to say it is better than AppleTV, XBMC etc.
I purchased Samsung TV and Home Theatre a few months back, now the PlexAPP has been released for my series of TV and BlueRay Player. Simply brilliant. Well done and thanks for the App.

"I run the Plex server on my WHS 2011 server. I have clients for Android, a Samsung TV and several PCs/Laptops. Easy setup, easy use and Plex gets all of the "hard to find" information on it's own #self scraping#.
The only drawback is that streaming movies are now interrupted by the latest DRM enforcer, Cinavia. All of my backed up blu rays that are embedded with Cinavia will not play without activating the DRM. This will severely inhibit use of Plex or any other streaming player."

"- The app often loses the connexion with the server! So the app closes and you have to restart all the process. And that's really annoying
- The subtitle offset dosen't work (only one way and it's bugging) and it's limited to 10s...

"I love PLEX. It is a great way to organize and share your media. I do not like the Samsung app, at least at its current shape. The biggest disadvantage comparing to the other operational systems (Windows, Android etc.) that it does not support music, photos and channels, which is about 80% of everything that PLEX offers. Please guys make this happened!"

"I would be more enthusiastic about this app if it were written to hide the plethora of unsupported features. I love the Plex interface, and was really let down to see that none of my audio would play using this app.
I guess I'll keep an eye on it, but Plex is a one-size fits all media solution. A version of it that cannot do everything that Plex supports is missing the point. Back to Roku."

"Unfortunately the Black Levels with PLEX are really really poor on my UE46D8090. This is not caused by PLEX, it's caused by SAMSUNG!!! A earlier firmware update caused the roblem. Since then it's neve been fixed. All futher firmware releases have this Problem. I think also the ES series is affected! Samsung should finally take a look on this!!!!!!!!!!!"
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: poor black levels

"This App is avaiable on my UN46D6000SFXZA smart tv but after trying to get it to connect to the plex server installed on my pc windows xp firefox browser it cannot find the PMS plex media server server. My poor rating is due to the fact that after reading forums and reading everything avaiable I could find for help it still will not work, Very frustrating. Unless you are a technical wizard it should be rather simple. All share is set up and works fine I give it 5 stars."
