"I chose Samsung laptop because of its reliability, aftermarket support, brand quality, and they made some of their own components. I was so close to getting Q430-11 but I wanted a bigger display (15" and up) and Blu-ray drive. Then I found R540-11.
Features
- Blu ray drive and software are awesome.
- The laptop is pretty light for a 15.6" display.
- Great graphics (ATI Radeon) as tested on "Mass Effect 2" PC game and blu-ray movies.
- not pre-installed with bunch of useless softwares.
- Intuitive data sharing software.

Performance
- FAST!! (as expected from Core i5 450M, 4GB RAM). I like how I can adjust the mode to 'silent' to reduce noise or to 'Speed' for maximum performance.
- Bright and sharp HD LED display.
- Speaker could be a little louder but decent sound for laptop.
- Minimal noise from the vent and heat is well-controlled.

- Battery is average for normal use (surfing internet, play music, perform simultaneous tasks) as it ranges between 2.5 and 3.5 hours. When watching blu-ray movies or playing PC games under "Samsung Optimized" power option, the battery life ranges between 1.5 to 2 hours.

- Touchpad is comfortable and feels just right.
- Prefer this keyboard over island keyboard.
- Great build but would prefer Q430-11 aluminum casing.
- Status indicators are hard to see due to espresso brown finish. The indicator light is fine.
