"I looked long and hard at what was out there, reread every review, and spent a long time examining this TV before buying and haven't regretted it since.
It has the most lifelike picture I've seen. The colors, after calibration, are fantastic, as are the other qualities like shadow detail, black levels, hues and contrast.
I have no image retention (burn in) and only slight "popping" on hockey games, which I never watch but had to investigate: it seems like people are using their flash on their cameras as it's random and local.
Despite the thinness of the TV, the speakers are more than adequate and I don't see why anyone would complain. For HT I use my stereo anyway.
Also, the viewing angle is fantastic and never washes out, from side to side.
I really can't stress the lifelike quality of HD and Blu Ray.
It's almost mesmerizing.
And one more thing: I have no issues whatsoever with humming, of any kind, at any distance.
All in all, a great product. I have no comments on the internet abilities as I never use them."

"I've owned this TV for two months and haven't begun to use all the features. Performance was excellent out-of-the-box. Setup was very easy. Have not used the Wireless functions yet so I can't speak for that. However, the picture quality has been great. I use a Polk Sound Bar with the TV but the TV speakers seem to be okay. If there is anything bad about this TV I haven't found it."

"So far, this has been a solid purchase. We recently purchased the 3D glasses and have enjoyed some 3D content (unfortunately content is limited by our current local cable provider). The images are great, the screen can be a little dark, but some simple adjustments and I was looking at a vibrant, colorful screen with a lot of "easter egg" type features that I love. I did buy a protection plan for my t.v. as a just incase, as you never really know when products can fail."

Played beautifully right out of the box. Haven't seen the need to calibrate. Only issue was a minor repair of optical audio outlet that Samsung took care of, after some phone and e-mail tag between manufacturer, repair shop, and myself. All-in-all, a great purchase."

It comes with overly bright settings, but there are several sources of settings available from testing web-sites that will bring the TV into a more realistic and higher fidelity presentation. "I bought a 7000 series plasma, 51". I have debated LED vs Plasma for years and had been following the 2011 Samsung models for about six months. This TV replaced a 40" DLP. First, I love the wall mount. Just like hanging a picture. Speaking of picture, it is great. Then I found an online source that explained how to calibrate the new TV. Now it is fantastic. The colors are as accurate as I would ever want. The brightness, clarity, all the features are what I had hoped. I cannot say enough, it is fantastic. Having 3D is an added benefit. I had heard that LED 3D has a lower resolution, and that plasma was much better. I agree. Again, it is a fantastic tv. The internet connection was breeze. I've begun watching movies via a wireless connection. This is great, but the color is not as accurate."

"This is the second Samsung Plasma TV. My first was a 50" plasma. It had worked well until it got storm damage. This is the replacement and to dat I have been very please with it so far. The picture is very sharp and quality seems to be good. The reason I gave it a 4 for design is that the menu can be confusing at times. As time goes on it is becoming easier to follow the system. The one item I would like to have seen shipped with it would be the new style remote (sorry can not remember the name)."

"Purchased this Samsung plasma TV after looking at many reviews of both users and tech savvy pro's. TV replaces an older (9 years) JVC 36 in CRT type TV that got zapped by lightening and could only view in B&W ala 1950's except much larger screen size. TV came bundled with Samsung blu-ray 3D player, two pairs of 3D glasses and several 3D movies.

Especially like the very thin design (<1.5 inches) not usually found in a plasma set. I also like the fact it has built in wi-fi and the way it streams Netflix and other web content from my router. I was particularly concerned about this aspect because of some reviewers who noted problems when streaming live video but so far so good. The only problem I have experienced in this regard is when trying to stream 3D content via the Samsung app "Explore 3D" -- the picture is constantly stopping to rebuffer before again starting and is unwatchable for all intents and purposes, despite the fact I have high speed broadband cable.

Picture quality of TV is very good especially HD content thru cable service (Charter in our area). Even the picture quality on "regular" channels is very good and often looks HD in clarity and sharpness.

Wish Samsung included a keyboard for interacting with their SmartTV hub apps and content -- like Netflix. Using the remote for this purpose is awkward and time-consuming. However, because this model does not provide full internet access, I don't use this feature on a daily basis. Have not used other features yet, like hooking my laptop thru HDMI or USB or other media for that matter, so can't comment on this function.

3D viewing is very unique but so little 3D content is out there, not sure its worth the extra money but, hopefully, in the future more will become available. The grand kids have certainly enjoyed watch Shrek using the 3D function.

Set up of TV was easy, especially via HDMI connections for cable box and Blu-ray player. Certainly a lot less complicated than the old RCA jacks (which I still had to use for my CD player and surround sound receiver, neither of which had an HDMI connection).

The sound volume on this TV is actually quite good, even though I am pushing 70, I can hear quite clearly with volume only at 9 or 10 from a distance of about 12 ft. (vol. scale goes up to 100 I believe) for almost all regular TV content. When using Netflix, Pandora, and other web based content, however, I usually have to increase sound level to 15 or above -- I assume sound volume deteriorates somewhat when being received over the Internet. Still have not figured out how to get surround sound for Netflix movies or other Internet sources.

Lastly, this plasma TV has an energy star rating of just $28 annually, far more energy efficient than plasma TV's made just a few years ago and comparable to many LCD TV's of a similar size.

Overall, well satisfied with this Samsung. The only regret I have is that I didn't get the somewhat larger 55 in. model. My advice to buyers whatever size model you are considering, get the next larger size."

"This is an all around excellent tv. For the videophile this tv has soo many advanced features you'll be content. Also, if you are a novice the settings recommended by samsung are extremely accurate and very easy to achieve. The 3D is amazing! I hate 3D but this tv reminds me of avatar quality. I have only watched the accompanying Shrek DVD set and Megamind. For the money its definately a contender for top choice."

"This set has stunning picture quality. Incredible contrast and such natural colors. Can't say enough about it. Watching the the hi-def channels on cable is like being in the movies all day every day. But beware the burn-in. On standard-def cable (like my kid's channels) it makes the black bars on the sides and I've already seen it burn in that line at the edge of theblack bar. But I was able to use the built-in tool to erradicate it and now when we watch one of those channels I change the picture to fill up the screen (button is right on the remote). I hate the distortion this causes but my kid does not care. The built-in 3D feature is actually pretty cool. Not as impressive as watching a 3D source of course, but still pretty impressive that it can process a live signal into 3D. Looking forward to football season! The glasses are nice and light and since they are not the rechargable kind they are a lot cheaper than other brands. If you plan on using the apps a lot you should invest in the wireless keyboard. Typing on facebook with the remote is an absolute nightmare. It uses the old flip-phone texting style where each button on the number pad cycles through 3 or four letters until you get the right one. Also the automatic brightness control works very well. But make sure you do not have a light source behind you that you'll be able to see in the reflection of the TV because it makes this radiant rainbow effect and is distracting."

"One of the first things you notice about this TV is that it looks almost as good off as it does when displaying its magnificient picture. Looking better than your competition while off is definitely nice but obviously it has to perform while on or nothing else matters. The 7000 series is a must own if you are looking for a new plasma, its picture can handle whatever your needs - wether you are someone who likes it bright and unreal or true to life!
There are too many pros for this TV to list... But if there is one con it would be the limited number of video setting presets. The adjustments that can be made are adequate but it would really be nice if it had two User Specific presets that you could add on your own. I would highly recommend this TV."

"Never having owned a HDTV before, and being a BIG classic movie fan, I wanted a TV with very sharp resolution and very black blacks (for those Golden Age black & white films). After viewing LCD, LED and plasma TVs in several stores on a blu-ray loop (IMPORTANT, because most cable and network broadcasting is really rather FUZZY, so you won't get an idea of what the TV can do in terms of sharpness), my eyes told me that the plasmas had the highest level of clarity and resolution.

Why this particular model?

I found the styling on this Samsung PN51D7000 very attractive: classic, unobtrusive, and elegant. It's beautiful. The perfect size for my living room.

I also bought a Samsung Blu-ray player. 3-D movies are amazing, but the all-time winner so far is the digitally restored Wizard of Oz. Truly astonishing in the vibrancy of the colors and the never-before-seen clarity of detail. And this TV allows me to see it ALL!

My friends are sick of me talking about how wonderful this TV is - but it has really changed my life - much for the better."

"The T.V. was very easy to set up and get going out of the box. The auto link of the wifi for the smart TV set up on the auto search function with no issues. There was a firmware update which is expected since this is a new model. I followed the instructions and there were no problems installing it. The picture is excellent. The suround sound is very good and loud enough for T.V. and movie viewing. I do have a Bose Lifestyle System which I prefer overall. The 3-D movie function works very well and everyone in the family was happy with how well things jump out at us when this function is on and we are wearing the glasses. It should also be noted that there was very little to no glare with the T.V."

"I love the picture on this television, the black level on this tv is excellent and it has so many apps like netflix, vudu, facebook, blockbuster, etc. The 3D glasses are also much lighter than glasses that I have tried from Sony and LG but the glasses are not rechargable and connect via bluetooth. Also, the only way to get audio out is through optical outputs which makes using headphones difficult unless you get an expensive pair that have optical connection. Image retention is an issue with this tv, be careful with static images like black bars, but the tv has tools to mitigate the image retention risk. Last things being a plasma this television draws alot of power which is indicated by the thick power cord. This tv is a good value and I highly reconmend this television."

"While reviews talking about picture quality and tv design are correct, this tv can not be recommended over alternative Samsung tvs because it is regularly is on of a small handful of tvs that are not compatible with the most useful of apps. One example is MLB.tv. This app worked last year, but what was described as a server upgrade error at the start of the preseason turned into the need for an app update "targeted for the before opening day." Weeks in there has been an update for almost all tvs except this one!!

A second app that doesn't work is the HBO GO app. This is something that I was highly anticipating using and this tv is one of only a few that cannot support this app.

For the premium in price paid for this tv (it was their second highest tier of plasma when it was released) I'm shocked that they do no support it with their best apps. The reason you buy a tv like this is to take advantage of this integrated functions and avoid the purchase of a roku or similar device.

Until Samsung figures out how to support all of their tvs and not arbitrarily leave a handful out, this tv cannot be recommended."

"Picture did not play well with Dish Network but great with Cablevison. Unhappy there is no QWERTY remote with all the wonderful Internet features it offers. Great wifi though. Able to see my server and all my wifi peripheral devices. Able to download a lot of free apps from Samsung. TV has amazing features but I need my QWERTY remote. Without it, it diminishes the some of the great features it has. Wish I would have known prior to purchase."

Cons: no qwerty remote

"I replaced my 46"LED 2010 model with this 2011 Plasma model. I am really really happy with the picture quality of the plasma.. Sound is great. I haven't tried the 3D feature yet.
sofar so good. I have only one issue.. The TV doesnot have all the APP's (the preloaded) that shows on the Samsung website. I was looking for the YUPP TV app and still not being seen. Not sure if it is a compatible issue.. Hopefully this is added at the earliest. At this point that is only my concern.."

Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive, Realistic color, 3d

Cons: in compatible app. (yupp tv)

I would recommend this to a friend!

"TV from day one suffered from motion blur during sports ~ specifically when the image is panning, all detail and precision from the image is lost. When watching normal daytime TV, the more static type imagery is bright and detailed."

Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display

Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

"For the most beautiful display on the market, how is it possible to not be able to play Hulu on my home stereo? This is the most disappointing lack of technology in a modern TV. I'm shocked that this feature is not available and Samsung should be embarassed."

"The picture on this tv is amazing! Unfortunately it is unable to stream netflix properly. I have this tv wired directly to my cable modem and I get screen blinking every 30 seconds or so. Check the cnet forums before you buy this tv. for the price it should be able to stream netflix with minimal issues."

"I was very excited about my new Samsung, received it, watched it for two hours and then it died. Now it Just clicks and won't come on. Have been waiting about a week for the part to come in....not a good experience! Very disappointed..."
