I was skiddish about the Samsung brand when it came to refrigerators and the price seemed too good to be true. This has been the best appliance I have ever owned. I am a former appliance repair tech and love this frige.

THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST REFRIGERATOR YOU CAN EVER BUY, ITS PERFECT BECAUSE OF THE FEATURES IT HAS, ONE FEATURE I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION IS THE CHILD LOCK FEATURE. WITH THE CHILD LOCK FEATURE YOU CAN ENJOY HAVING THE WATER LINE CONNECTED TO THE REFRIGERATOR, BECAUSE IF YOUR TODDLER'S PLAY WITH THE REFRIGERATOR BY PRESSING THE ICE MAKER OR WATER DISPENSER BUTTONS YOU WONT HAVE A MESS BECAUSE IT'S LOCKED!!! AND ONLY YOU WILL KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK IT. IF YOU HAVE KIDS YOUNGER THAN 5 YEARS OF AGE LIKE I DO THEN THIS IS THE REFRIGERATOR YOU WILL NEED FOR YOUR FAMILY!!! THE ONLY DOWN FALL IS THAT THE ICE MAKER DOES NOT LIGHT UP LIKE OTHER COMPETITORS BUT THAT'S THE ONLY REASON I GAVE IT A 4 STAR RATING ON THE FEATURES. Purchased in March 2007 and started having fan or compressor noise issue after 2 years and half, and it just died. It might be poor maintenance (I admit that I didn't do any maintenance) however, none of the refrigerators I used died this quickly and none of those required maintenance especially within 3 years after purchase. Also, it seems it's having circuit board issue now which doesn't require maintenance; it's blinking green light on display and not cooling and running at all.

Exactly 1 year after I purchased this it started making real loud noises and freezing up. Warranty was up and I had to have it serviced. Service man said maybe I left a door open. I didn't. Love the door alarms. Or, put hot food in it. I didn't. I have been real careful since that service call. It has been a year and 4 months since and it is doing it again. I was gone all of last week. So, I know it isn't me doing anything. I guess I just got a lemon. I see I am not the only person that has had this problem from the reviews. I now know to always purchase extened warranties with major purchases. Sad.

At 6 months ice buildup around vents in freezer was so bad icemaker stopped working. Serviceman cleaned up and said the cause was poor design. This prognosis was confirmed by Samsung service. The service record stated "problem cannot be fixed". Every 2 months I have to beat the ice off the inside of the freezer and try not to damage the vents. I use a wooden spoon. The service guy said warm air from the house backflows through the fridge to the freezer when the fridge door is open. This makes snow and ice in the freezer.
At 10 months frezzer fan stated making loud continuous noise. It will be serviced in a few days when parts arrive. The service guy can de-ice as well.
This unit has been more trouble than it is worth, even under warranty. When the warranty runs out I will have no recourse.
By far the worst appliance I have ever owned.

Bought this model in 2007. Just before the 2yr mark the freezer coils started to freeze up. When this happens the frig side doesn't cool as well and the ice begins to melt in the freezer. I have to defrost the freezer once a week to keep things cool. After reading other posting this is apparently a common problem.
