Not as quiet as previous Samsung

"Not as quiet as previous Samsung, but much quieter than the new GE I returned to Home Depot after a few months. I was told by the GE tech that all refrigerators now have louder operation than a few years ago. This Samsung would be of much better design if it had a fully adjustable rack type shelf and door bin system to eliminate wasted space. The wine rack and the soda rack I have removed and replaced with 2 purchased extra deep door bins for better storage. Taking all into consideration, it's a good product. It is beyond my compehension as to why a "Counter Depth" product cost double the price of a regular depth product. Why should we with smaller kitchens pay so much more?"
Pros: nice design, fairly quiet
Cons: twice the price for "counter depth!", needs more flexible shelf and bin placement

Decent counter depth refrigerator

"We originally purchased the RF266 french door refrigerator. It ended up being a little too deep for our kitchen setup so we exchanged it for this one. We loved the build, feature, and performance of the RF266 (we used it for almost 3 weeks before getting this one) so we decided to stick with Samsung.
While this refrigerator has lots of the good qualities of the RF266 like LED lighting, twin cooling, water/ice dispenser, and well organized shelving, it does have one big drawback. I understand this is counter depth so I'm not going to get as much space as the RF266, however, the single most biggest gripe I have with this refrigerator is that the drawers do not open outwards very much. The opening for the drawers at maximum extension is probably only 6" deep (maybe a little less). This can make putting stuff in and taking stuff out of the drawers a bit of a hassle. Even though it is counter depth I would have liked to see the draws open up farther.
That being said though, for a counter depth, it has lots of storage space, relatively speaking. The inside usable area extends all the way from the top to the floor, there isn't much space in the top or bottom of the fridge used for electronics or other hardware, it really does maximize the space available. I'm assuming all the hardware is in the rear of the fridge. The shelves are arranged nicely as stated above, and one of them can even be pushed back and recessed a bit to allow the immediate shelf below to store taller items. You can tell a lot of thought was put in to the arrangement despite being a counter depth. Also, the ice maker in the freezer is great, it doesn't take any shelf space in the freezer like most other side by sides I've seen. The entire ice making apparatus is tucked into the door itself. While this does take a little bit of door shelf space away, I think it's much better than taking away an entire shelf from the main part of the freezer. The controls and water/ice dispenser on the front of the fridge are easy to use, has a nice LCD display, and the chimes it makes are very pleasant. With all these great ideas, I really wonder why they didn't make the refrigerator drawers extend out more! :(
All in all, my wife and I are very pleased with the fridge. It still baffles me why a smaller counter depth fridge would cost so much more than a regular fridge that actually has more space! I can understand why it would cost a little bit more, like smaller laptops are more than the bigger ones, but we paid over $500 more for this one than the RF266! Oh well, I guess that's what you get for have a "special needs" sized kitchen."

Had High Hopes...but..........

"First, let me say this is a nice unit and a decent value. We had anticipated that we would really like this refrigerator, based on some reviews, the features, LED lighting, ect.
For a counter depth, it has decent space utilization, great looks, bling, and good design. However, our unit never got below 39-40 degrees in the refrigerator compartment when set to 34 degrees. We set the freezer to -4 degrees and it maintained at -4. Ice production was fine. However, milk and other beverages in the fridge were just not as cold as we are accustomed to. I like my fridge at just above freezing. Samsung sent a service tech., who replaced 2 sensors, but that did not help any. Lowes was very accomodating and replaced it with another identical model, but it performed the same. They even put a thermometer in thier store display unit and it stays at 40 degrees. If this temp. range is acceptable to some, which it must be to most, then this is a great unit, but when you set it to 34, it should get to 34. No area of our unit would ever get below 39, which was not acceptable.
I have purchased another brand, and Lowes has been very accomodatiing in returning the Samsung. I really wanted to like this unit, as the replacement with LED and lots of features was quite a bit more costly.

"When I received my refrigerator. I was excited about the sleek look and features. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I plugged in my brand new fridge. It did not cool AT ALL. I followed all of the instructions in the troubleshooting guide, but it did not work. The lights came on, but that was all. When the repairman came, he found a crack in a line. My new fridge is leaking freon. It is also missing a part that will keep the metal lines from rubbing together (which would eventually create another problem). The parts have been ordered and it will be repaired. But I think that I will stick to Samsung televisions from now on. No more appliances."

Good, until the warranty expires and silly things start breaking

"Poor design of space usage. Doors will dent way too easily. Ice maker is inconsistent even after having it replaced. Temperature is in-accurate. Shelves are of poor quality, they'll start splitting down the middle shortly (ironically) after the warranty expires. Very disappointed, considering the one in my basement of 25 years and probably 1/5th the price, that gets much more abuse, is holding up just fine."
Pros: blue led light is cool
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, everything but the blue led light.
