"My wife has had this phone for 18 months and has loved it. She's tried several iOS devices but has never gotten the hang of them. Samsung's UI for Android is so smooth and well designed, she has loved this phone since day one.

It always surprises me how light this phone feels when I use it. It's just the right size too for everything you need to do on it. The screen's brightness and clarity are remarkable as well. "Overall this is a good phone. I would give five stars on everything if there where a couple of things different.

A few examples:
1) There is no front facing camera option on this phone. The phones that do have that option can do video calls. You are also able to take less goofy pictures of yourself at ease.
2) The design of the phone is really good except for the placement of the volume button and/or the power button. They are directly across from each other. This means that when you push one or the other of these you unintentionally push the opposite button.
3) The value is pretty average. If it had a few changes/additions it would be excellent in value.

If I had to do it over, would I get this phone? I would have to say that for the most part yes. You get used to the placement of the buttons after some time. The front facing camera would be nice but I can live without it, however I would heavily compare it to other devices. I am a person who likes this organized to my likings. I would also look at phones that I could organize more to my needs. This is my first smart phone and for my first one I wouldn't complain too much. I will be looking at the features and options a bit more with the next."

Performance feels quick and the AMOLED screen is just beautiful to behold. The interface is nice but different enough to require a little learning. I like Samsungs focus on audio and video support and am looking forward to testing what all I can do with it! I have had a couple of 'force close' events while setting it up with applications and account settings but I am betting those are just hiccups at all the rapid changes I am forcing. Very happy so far!"

"The Samsung Galaxy S Showcase is by far the highest quality phone that is offered at Cellualar South. Well, I take that back. The blackberries are as well built and have the same amount of quality. The Showcase is an amazing phone! I love the games and the social networking capabilites. I use TweetDeck to update my status on both facebook and twitter. I love the new Android 2.2 platform (froyo) I finally have the Netflix app on my phone (Sooo Happy) that was one thing I LOVED on my old iPhone 3G. So I can now honestly say that is as good as any ole' iPhone. well I would love the iMovie app:( ha anyways for a full featured phone with an AWESOME camera, loads of storage (expandable to 30+ GB), and now with Adroid 2.2 awesome for media, and great apps for downloading music. this phone is for you!!:)"

"This is my first Samsung mobile product. I like that this product is easy to use and is better than the Hero that I had before. The only thing that I'm having a problem with is that my screen automatically "presses" numbers and letters. It even makes calls on its own. This happened after the 2.2 Update became available through my carrier. Other than that, I really LOVE this phone!!"

"This is the best phone I have ever owned. Apple who? Very few forced application closures. My wife will get one next month when her contract is up on her blackberry. Auto Sync all of my contacts and information from my PC, and I was over 100 miles away. Lost very few numbers because I could not get into my old windows based phone. "I am a new user to the Android Platform. The phone has met or exceeded most of my expectations. Rural use is lacking somewhat but not enough to change my rating. Phone was very easy to set up and use without having to go through the CD. Limited battery life was an issue until I followed simple "onscreen" instructions on how to resolve this issue.

"I highly recommend this phone, especially to customers of smaller wireless companies like CellularSouth. This is the flagship phone for CellSouth, and it is comparable to the best that AT&T and Verizon to offer including iPhone 4 and Droid Incredible.

I gave it 5 stars on everything except performance, because I still have Android 2.1 (not able to update yet) and the battery seems to drain fairly quickly with use. This is my first smartphone, so the battery usage may be a common problem with all phones."

"This is beyond a smartphone. I really have no complaints. Battery life could be longer, but at the same time, it's about normal considering all the stuff this device is actually doing/running. Great features, amazing display, outstanding apps, solid design, and if I'm not mistaken, I believe it uses gorilla glass, which is amazing for touch screens!! Very smart, sleek and sturdy design. Not only is this phone sexy, it performs. It just does what you want. Simple as that. I love Samsung products, and this phone has made me happy as a child in a candy store.
Fun games, fun apps, productive apps, productive phone. All around amazing. Now let's see how long it holds up! ***ALSO wanted to add that people have commented on how large this phone is. REALLY? It's just as wide as my blackberry was, just longer. WHICH I LOVE because holding it up for an actual phone conversation, it feels sturdy and sounds great. Using it for anything else, the size is again optimal because the screen is so magnificent. There is nothing wrong with the size. It's perfection. No bigger, no smaller..just right. If you think this phone is too big, then you obviously need to stick to your regular phone that will only make your calls and texts for you, this phone is not for you. This phone is for the person who enjoys games, who likes to read their email perfectly, watch videos...the person who likes music, fast internet, the ability to actually READ what's on the screen and not have a distorted browsing experience, oh, and it makes phone calls too. ;)

"I recently switch from a HTC Desire and the screen and speed of the Galaxy put it in another category. Friends with the iPhone4 love the larger screen...and they can't believe the price. There are some features of the HTC...mainly the Sense software but am learning to live without. I would like to see a little better functionality for the mail client when connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server via Active Sync. The battery life on this device is also outstanding. Overall the Galaxy is just a fantastic device."

"Not only is this a fun phone to use, it's also sturdy! I droped it yesterday when I was getting into the car. I drove off without realizing it. When I went back to get it, it had been run over, I was so upset. I picked up the pieces, the front and back of the phone. They were about 5 feet apart, so they could have been run over multiple times. The back had been scraped up, but I put it back together and it works just as well as it did before. The SD card was missing which I didn't notice until I got to work. It was raining, but I went back during lunch and found it in the road also, I dried it off and put it back into the phone. It also works as good as new. Whew... thankfully this is such a well made phone!"

Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, great photos, great video, sturdy!!

Great phone

"This is a great phone. Its has the second best display iphone4 is is a little bit sharper and brighter. The internet does drain the battery pretty fast, but that's a norm. The only thing the phone lacks is a frontal camera for video calls. I love the apps and all the features of the phone and I would definitely recomend this phone to anyone."

"I had the original iPhone for two years with AT&T and lost it getting out of a cab in New York City. I hated AT&T service and switched to Cellular South. At the time, I got the HTC Hero and was extremely disappointed in the speed of the phone. But, now with this Galaxy it is blazing fast. This phone REALLY compares to the iPhone. I've now got the best of both worlds. Great Service/Great Phone!"

"I bought the HTC desire at first and don’t get me wrong - sweet phone. But the Samsung Galaxy S was a little more and I kept thinking about it so I decided to go in and take another look a week since I got the HTC Desire. Well long story - short. After looking it over I upgraded again, luckily it was less than 14 days so i had no penalty charge just pay the difference. I am very pleased nice phone - I love it. I love it so much later the same day I bought my wife one and NO joke within the forst week of having it at work three people I work with went and upgraded to it...I deserve an award from Samsung for that :)"

Cons: fragile and limited accessories

"I've had an iPhone for the past 2 years now, 3g version. I decided that i wanted something different when my contract ran out, so I decided on the Galaxy Showcase. What an amazing difference over the iPhone 3g. It's faster, brighter, clearer, and the sound coming out of the built in speaker is clear. I never realized how hindered Apple makes the iPhone. I love that I can download files on the go and not have to be attached to my computer. Samsung has made me a believer! I LOVE my new phone!"
