"I have used this phone on and off (in between other upgrades or phones bought online) and somehow always end up going back to it. While it may not be the most interesting or appealing phone on the market, especially with the way technology and cell phone manufactureers are going, it is definitley one of the most reliable. It's pretty user friendly and makes texting easy with the touch screen, T9 input method AND a keyboard. This could be even more facilitated with threaded messaging and the keyboard tends to lag behind the speed of my fingers. The phone is built rather sturdily and has yet to fall apart after my two years of use. The battery life is wonderful (can usually go for 2.5 days) and call quality isn't bad. I've ran this phone over, dropped in a cup of water AND a swimming pool and dropped it numerous times. And nothing. This phone is a warrior!"
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, touch screen t9 keyboard, full qwerty keyboard, long-lasting battery, user friendly
Cons: Too big, sub-par camera, laggy keyboard speed

"I dropped the phone into a bucket of water, after fishing it out and drying it with a hairdryer. Ive been using it another six months with no problems. Only con is its hard for me to text fast enough: there are too many steps to take for messaging and changing between text modes."

"Got the Flight I as a replacement sight unseen from customer care. Had my Flight I over a year with no problems at all...Easy to use, only need one hand to open...no issues at all....Just added my sons to my plan and bought them both Flight II's which they love, but I refer the bottom slide Qwerty to the side slide.....Love this phone!!!"

"After dropping a heavy object on the screen and damaging the 1st phone (after 2.5 years), I bought an identical Flight for a 3rd of the original price. It suits my needs until I move up to an iPhone in the near future. The touch is awesome, just make sure it's calibrated correctly... I rarely use the pull-out Qwerty keyboard as I prefer using the touch Qwerty on the screen. This time I'll keep it in its case so I won't damage the screen again!"

"I had to return to my FLIGHT after a snafu with a another product. I should have never left this phone. It IMHO is the perfect phone for a person that chooses to keep the phone a phone with the ability to occasionally text and email. The touch screen makes it easy to access the features one uses most. Pair it with New Studio software and you can maximize the camera and music player. I will probably keep my FLIGHT until I finally find a need for a phone that is also a computer."

"when me and my husband upgraded last i wanted a touch screen. the representative told us this would be an deal phone for me since i really didn't want a smartphone. the first phone i got gave me a few problems but after we got it replaced my new one has done incredible. i have a two and four year old who love to sneak mommy's phone and draw with the drawing tool, listen to my music on it, or look at the pictures an videos on the phone and card. this phone has really went above and beyond my expectations. it has survived my family with flying colors."

"I am a huge fan of Samsung phones. I never buy out of Samsung on any item, tvs, blu ray players, anything, anytime, its always Samsung. But this phone, omg. This was a disappointment. I was forced to buy this phone when I received my upgrade because the Samsung Impression had a glich, and everyday, I had to turn it off and on again to continue to get txt msgs. So I walked out with the Flight. It would take so long to load a web page that my screen would time out before it finished loading. The only thing that I liked about the phone is that it was a slide phone, and its extremely DURABLE. Ive dropped it plenty of times and it does not effect anything. Still runs just as slow as when I first purchased it."

"We have 2 of these. Both loose randomly contacts including favorites, & individualized ring tones. Retrieve them back from the SIMMS card & the info returns in a different format. Have to correct each contact 1 at a time. By the time they all get corrected it might loose them again.
Press any function button and the phone might shut itself off instead of doing the function desired. Too many function buttons exposed on the sides to get inadvertently pressed when not desired.
Like the features of new Samsung phones coming out but am reluctant to get one because of bad experience with these 2 Flights."

"I really did love this phone for awhile because it had everything and worked perfectly. I wasnt too happy with the picture quality but it still was a really good phone. Well, about a few months ago, my touch screen messed up really bad and i cannot look at my pictures anymore because my touch screen will not let me push my menu button. it pushes the button next to it (contacts)."

"Well, yeah. This is a wonderful phone for a younger person that doesn't care much about features, more for calling and texting. It has great unlimited data and is very fast, and durable. The pictures are great and the photo editing is wonderful also. I do know about the charging issue, the thing is, DO NOT use an lg charger if your phone is dead, or the original charger. Use a blackberry charger that fits it. It works a lot better than the Samsung charger... The touch screen works great for me so far and it is a great value, and since it's so small, durable, and good-looking, it's great for someone who might drop it a lot. Overall it's like a smartphone on the cheaper side."

"This is my second one of these phones. The first one was rebooting on me about every 2 days when I was in the middle of sending a text message and it never saved the message either. I called AT&T and they sent another one. This one is rebooting on me too, just not as often and it has been freezing up on me and also really super slow when I go to send a text message. I think this is the WORST phone I have ever owned and I will never buy another one."

"I bought this phone almost a year ago (two of them for my husband and I). We have had several problems with this phone. The first thing to happean was the phone would say "charging" after the plug was removed or just randomly on it's on, then the screens began to freeze, now we have each at some point experienced the phone sending callers directly to voicemail without the phone ringing first (and yes we checked our settings)....very disappointed and getting ready to call someone today! I have had other Samsung products and "LOVED" them but not this one....."
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

"I got this phone for the "full size" key pad. The keys are so small I can't use it unless I have a fingernail.
I actually ordered the phone this one replaced, but received this one as the other was out of stock. Otherwise I would have got a different phone.
Price was right."

"I have had this phone for just over a year but it started having problems before the year mark. It had difficulty charging and when plugged in, would often go back and forth between charging and not charging. It deteriorated to the point that it would not charge any further, and the screens would freeze. My cell phone is now in cell phone heaven. To make matters worse is that I was in a 3 year contract and my provider basically said I have to purchase a phone at full price to replace it. So I am now using one of my old phones again.....talk about extremely frustrating....DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!!!"

"I contemplated getting a smartphone, but this little gem had everything I wanted without the giant price tag. First, I can get unlimited data on this (I believe most carriers have done away with that for the smartphones). At first I was a bit disappointed about not getting e-mail directly to the phone, but I was able to simply download a free application from Gmail and I was all set.
It would be nice to have texts in conversation mode, but if I'm really talking that long to someone, I can just pick up the phone and call them.
Advice - just make sure to completely close out of any app once you're done using it (specifically, choose "yes" when the phone asks if you want to exit). Having multiple ones open at the same time caused the phone to run a bit slowly for me."
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, easy to customize

"i really love my new samsung flight. my only complaint is the touchscreen is not always responsive. i half to touch it SEVERAL times before it responds mainly on seeing texts messages.it is VERY annoying!

"I am on my 3rd Samsung Flight in 10 months. I love the QWERTY keyboard and the touch screen feature. However, the first phone started telling me the battery was full when it wasn't, then it wouldn't recognize the charger for a couple days. I tried new batteries, new chargers, and new sim card before they sent me a new Flight. I then had the 2nd phone for 7 months, but many times throughout that time it would do the same thing. I tried the same things for the 2nd phone, but eventually gave up on that one when it did it 3 times in less than a week. I just received the 3rd phone last week & it told me twice that the battery was full when it was on only 2 bars right before I plugged it in. Also, with the 3rd phone, I can access internet, but I cannot access the app center and have not been able to resolve it yet."

"works just like a smartphone w/out extra charges from service provider. Touch screen, email, music, messaging, data, games, internet, video/photo camera, qwerty, etc. Way better than the flight 2. Another company *ahem* starts with a B and ends in berry recently came out with basically an identical phone for a much higher price. Phone layout allows you to use it with one hand but is also fine with two. It doesn't REQUIRE you to use both hands, which is very useful when multitasking."

"Over all the phone is good but, it has one very distinctive drawback...I can't connect it my computer to transfer data. I have downloaded the drivers and PC studio but my computer does not recognize the phone."

"I've owned this phone for over a year now. I love this phone, more than my razor, i, and a variety of other slide and flip models. I like that I can use the touch screen and then with a quick slide BOOM there's a QWERTY keyboard. I find the keyboard to be perfectly sized, not too big, not too small. I've used to to call, text, surf, message, take pics, you name it. I love the picture taking screen tools, very sensible and easy. I like that it's smaller than an iPhone. I've seen smaller phones but this one is slim, compact design. I've dropped this phone many numerous times, it has several dings now but still works great, no problem with the slide, keys, or display. Very few dropped calls. Overall, I would buy another one (which I think is now a Flight II)."

"This is my first touch tone/full QWERTY keyboard phone. Definitely a step up for me. The phone did "freeze up" a few times when I used it during the first month but I haven't had any problems with that for a while now. Keyboard is a little small for me. But it seems that random letters show up even though my fingers aren't even close to those buttons-not sure what is going on with that. All around nice phone with many features I haven't even touched on yet."

"i have been a cell phone user for over 8 years now and this is the first phone that i have been very unsatisfied with. this is my first touch screen phone and i must say i don't think i will ever buy another one. this product was recommended to me by the at&t salesperson because i had originally owned the samsung propel which i loved. this current phone has a mind of its own and only functions the way you want it to 25% of the time. constantly loads up the internet, freezes up to the point where you can't reboot it without taking the battery out to do so. it worked great within the 30 trial period,but after the first 30days i have experienced nothing but problems. I am going to go back to my samsung propel, and would recommend to anyone who is looking to buy a new cell phone to stay clear of this one"

"I upggraded to this phone a year ago. Good phone if you want to text and talk. Apps OK but I do not use them. This phone is not very durable but does seem to work well. I like the keyboard and the ease of finding contacts. Limited to 6 favorites. Can't sync with computer without special cord, hard to work but once you do get it onthe computer it works fine. All in all a good phone and would recommend for the price."

"I bought this phone less then a year ago. I consider myself the anti-christ of cell phones. I destroy at least 2 a year. Several days ago I was talking to a friend when my phone slipped out of my hand and tumbled 5 stories to the ground. The only thing I could think of was all my contacts being gone... again. I found the phone (in one piece) and the cover but not the battery. After the weekend I got the call, the battery was found. I popped it and and I cannot believe this but my phone works. This thing is a beast."

"Obviously, this phone has raving reviews. And I am not going to lie, it is a durable phone with good battery life (2 1/2 days even with CONSTANT texting), simple to use for texting and it's very affordable. But then again, you get what you pay for. I got this phone as a replacement for my LG Shine, and honestly, I liked it better than this Flight. The way the phone looks and the too-small keyboard make me dislike this phone. Sure, it's reliable, but looks mean a lot to me. This phone could be designed a little better. I am biding my time and hoping to buy a Samsung Eternity. Overall, this is a good phone and I would not stop you from buying one. But, try it first. I really like Samsung's products, but they could have done better."

"this is the second flight I have owned, I am now receiving my third tomorrow, they all had the same exact problems and continually worsened over time. att will not replace with a samsung captivate which is the same price and comparable. I would not recomend this phone. it vibrates randomly, cannot hear out of speaker, reboots itself, person on other line can't hear me, drops a call and resets. will not send text. it is a piece of junk, I would recomend an old phone before I would recomend this one. I wish samsung would read this, maybe they would appreciate customer loyalty and give me the captivate in exchange."

"This phone is larger then my old phone, but it fits in my slightly large hand just fine. I like being able to use the qwerty or the touch screen. The buttons are all shortcuts, so that's great. My favorite thing is all the different ways I can edit my pictures. I like how everything is connected via shortcuts etc. I don't like that the phone hardly holds any texts. My sim card holds 30, and my phone says it holds 500, but I text a lot and if I don't delete texts regularly then I run out of room. The touchscreen also doesn't always register my finger. If I touch it for too long or if I don't touch it spot on then it won't register. I haven't had it long enough to know how to do everything, but so far it can do pretty much everything. It doesn't have any games on it except demos which is kind of annoying, but I don't play games on it a lot so it's not a big deal. The keys are perfect for texting. A tad small, but they just take getting used to. I'm not sure if it's my phone or the other line, but sometimes I have been disconnected or just can't hear the person I'm talking to. Overall I love this product and would recomend it to anyone who has bigger hands."

"This phone has become my best friend. It is so easy to use! The full QWERTY keyboard enables me to text easily. The camera includes zoom and you can edit pictures! The video quality is great as well. I can easily access the world in my palm! It is just the phone I have been looking for! The Samsung Fight A797 is not only appropriate for a teenager, but for all ages!"

"I liked this phone alot at first. Then the alarms would refuse to go off when i would set them(ie for work). The volume would turn itself on/off or up/down (to the extremes in the worse of times). Then the phone will say it is charging... while I am at work far from my charger. The battery icon even looks like it is charging. When it is not busy being the EXORCIST child, it decides to say "battery full" and then die. The phone is cute, nice style, LOVE the keyboard! I also enjoy being able to organize my phone by creating folders for pics and etc. The screen is great when it works.Sometimes you will sit there and tap, tap, tap, tap, and so on and get nothing, just start all over. Then there are times that the slide things on the screen go a lil bit then just dont go, then mutes or ends call. I have tried to reason with myself becasue I do love this phone... but it is not seeming like it now that I can see in front of me the list of pros and cons in which i have been avoiding.
Samsung please help me, i do love this and i think I may be attached to it
I would attach video but currently my samsung FLIGHT refuses to turn on or charge nothing!!!!"

"Operating this phone has been my worst nightmare. There are no APPs for this phone. Anything you want to do, you have to pay an additional monthly charge. When entering contacts into the phone, it does not give you the option to enter address, date of birth or even notes regarding the person. I would never recommend this phone to any one. Also, trying to remember where a particular setting is, is very complicated. The keyboard is too small. I have to use a pen top just to type in letters."

"I absolutely love my Samsung flight. I also own a Blackberry and prefer my flight over my Blackberry. It's pretty easy to learn and primarily use my mobile device for talking texting and checking my facebook account. As to where my Blackberry I have to open up several apps to check pretty anything I need to access. And opening up several apps as most Blackberry owners know opening multiple apps at the same time means slower loading times. So I most definitely rate the Samsung flight 5 stars if you use it primarily for the same three functions I use it for, talk, text, and facebook."

"I thought I would really like the touch screen, I was wrong. The touch screen is too sensitive. Im always muting someone, it sometimes goes to my contacts while im talking on it and when it does that it starts calling three way. Its aggervating. Im actually going to today to buy me a different phone, and it will still be a samsung because I do like the quality of samsung just not the touch features."

"I'm writing this review because I have made countless (seriously, over 17) attempts to resolve my phone and service problems with AT&T Customer Service, but no one that I have spoken to seems to be able to figure out what the problem is, or how to fix it. Does anyone else have problems with their mobile email app on the Samsung Flight? Six times now, I've gotten an email alert and when I tried to access it, my phone gave me an error message saying that there was no email account for this alert, so it will disable the alerts. I go back and try to check my email using the app, and I find that all 6 of my email accounts have been deleted from my phone, leaving me to either sign up for the service again and pay another signing fee, or to go without it and call 611 on my phone, only to have the "customer service representative" on the other end tell me that they don't know what's wrong or how to fix it, but they'll gladly refund me the monthly fee for the mobile email that I can no longer use. One time they sent me through regular customer service, then tech support, and then the warranty center. While each person that I spoke to was very nice and apologetic, this was not doing anything to fix the reason for my calling. Each person I spoke to had me hard reset my phone, wiping all of my information. Then they decided that I should come to their local warranty center and exchange phones. I did. Same thing happened. As it stands now, I am without the mobile email service, and biding my time until our one year contract is up in February. Then I'm dropping this overcharging, ineffective "wireless" provider."
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, operating system, battery life, durability, freezes, poor navigation, software bugs, little to no gps signal, dysfunctional apps, very small service area

"At first the phone was pretty good, but then the problems started. When typing text messages the phone will often freeze. When browsing the internet it often shuts itself down completely. Half the time it doesn't even connect and shuts down. At&t sent me a new one, but it is giving me the exact same problem. They are now trying to cover by sending me a new battery since it has been proved by three tech support people and 5 people at the AT&T store to be the phone. I would not advise anybody to buy one of these. I know many people with the same issue and its just not worth it."

"I just recently upgraded towards smarter phones and i love my samsung flight. the screen has excellent quality and the touch screen, while a bit behind sometimes, has excellent, adjustable feedback. the keyboard is smaller than I'm used to, but it is only a small thing to get used to and my texting speed is nearly back to max. Overall, a great phone with a few easily reconcilable drawbacks."

"I'm begging you, do not chose this phone! Most of the time I'll hit a button/icon and it'll take several seconds before it registers. Usually it ends up doing the wrong thing. This phone doesn't register 75% of the characters I type when I use the keyboard. Using the touch screen is even worse. I'll know I've only hit one key at a time, and the correct keys, yet it'll be blank and then pop up a bunch of random text on the screen. I spend more time correcting its mistakes than typing the text."

"I just traded my lg phone and so far I do like the Samsung. I can finally hear the answer tone when I am receiving a call. The keys on the keyboard are quite small but I guess it will take some getting used to. The one thing I didn't like when I was setting the phone up was the tutorial. I had to contact the company to find out how to access my speaker phone. This is the first phone I have had where the user manual is a cd so if I need to find something out about the phone, I have to wait until I get home to access the cd on my computer. Also, I don't know why there is only room for 6 favorites. I still haven't found how you put the phone on vibrate when you can't use the ring tone, such as in a meeting. I suppose time will tell how overall satisfied with the phone."

"I got this phone about two weeks ago and I love the full keyboard because I text a lot and the call clarity is good. The panoramic picture feature is AMAZING and I've used it several times in just the little time I've had it. However, if you want to be able to transfer pictures, music, anything to and from your computer be ready for the fight of your life. I didn't like that the phone didn't come with a USB cord, manual, driver and software CD, ANYTHING to make it useful other than a simple phone. I've been trying to make it work with my computer for about three days now and I still can't get it to work and I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy. As far as help from the website, you can forget about it. Your best option is to call or do a live chat with someone from Tech Support because the FAQ's are not very efficient."

"My wife and I are closing in on retirement. We have used simple phones for years. We wanted to break into the 21st century and experiment with Texting and web on our phones. We found the perfect phone to make this initial transition. It will do far more than we can ever want it to do at our age. It will also load JAVA apps including the new Opera mini browser. The only little part I hate, is how ATT locks out some of the functions (icons) unless you pay extra."

"I had to get this phone because my LG Xenon broke. I have had it for 2 days now and I really like it so far. Even though the keys are pretty small on the keyboard that isn't really a problem for me since I have smaller hands. I haven't figured out yet if you can save pics you take on the built-in camera to the memory card you have in it. If you can't, then that is the only thing I find wrong with this phone, everything else is great."

"i lost my lg neon and this is my replacement....so glad i got it. i haven't used all the features yet but so far i think it's my fav phone yet. the touchscreen is awesome and texting a breeze. the flight is a smidge larger than i've had before but i really like that, comfortable and classy too..the pictures and the vidios are ok...i think u will b pleased if u decide on the flight."

"This is the first time I have ever had anything more than just a phone, and this thing is really incredible. The ease at which things happens is also helpful. The only thing I have an issue with is I haven't learned how to turn off the button sounds. Other than that its great."

"I had 3 lg neon's which I kept having call quality problems and dropped calls. at&t suggested a different phone and I got the flight which is in a completely different league. I initially had the same call problems with the flight but it ended up being a problem with the Sim card. This is a great phone. Its not a smart phone but the features are close with a cheaper data plan."

"I got the flight two and a half weeks ago for free for signing up for another two year contract, It was great at first i loved having a touch screen and the keyboard, It doesnt do a whole lot but that doesnt bother me it started echoing during calls but I dont make many calls so i over looked that too, and then it stoped charging I tryed everything you could think of I havent droped my phone and I had to only use the charger one other time there's no explanation for why it stopped working. Do your self a favor and pick another phone this one isnt worth it I'm returning it tomorrow!"

"Having started with a simple trac phone a few years ago this phone is a dream! I love the light weight and the simple ease of use. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I usually use the phone for texting (I'm a super text person). The camera is amazing and work great for sending pic messages. The only thing I don't like it that the messages aren't threaded, but eh all the space that comes with the phone makes it easy to move back and forth. If you're one of those people that tends to go through a lot of phones then it's probably because you're too rough on them. Lighten up! If you're more of an internet user I think you should chose a different phone (this is just personal). This isn't an Iphone. It works well and is easy to use."

"I am on my second phone since January. The first one randomly powered off and on. So AT&T exchanged it for another one and it is doing the same thing. I've already personalized all my ringtones and grouped my contacts (AGAIN) so am trying to tough it out and just use the darn thing."

"I bought this phone in Jan, 2010, it's very hard to get the accept call function to work. It requires proprietary usb cables and even with the PC Studio and usb driver downloaded from the Flight support page it still won't sync with the pc. The phone has very nice features but don't plan on transferring anything between the phone and pc, it will work between the pc and data card."

"While the main functions of the phone are nice, it lacks the ability to customize it to your personal tastes, specifically the inability to change the 5 or so random pics it uses as a screen saver when you lock the phone, you get these lame generic pics, and you can not change them to anything you would find appealing."

"I have had five phones in the last few years and the Samsung Flight is BY FAR the best! The touch screen is the great, especially after you use the calibration feature to calibrate it. I was worried about texting on the small keys and the size of the phone, but I got used to it very quickly and the phone fits just fine in my pocket. It also has a touch screen numeric keyboard that works great (T9, Abc, and Handwriting modes). The call quality is awesome and the price with a contract agreement is phenomenal. The ONLY thing I don't like is a small rattling noise when the phone vibrates, but that is easily overshadowed by everything else the phone does very well. I got way more than I payed for. If you want a GREAT, durable phone that doesn't require a data package, and won't cost you an arm and a leg, the Samsung Flight is the way to go."

"had sprint and loved my phone and service but my spouse had att so we went for the family plan with them and cancelled my sprint service.I wanted a phone similar to the one I had with sprint so I found the samsung flight looked good loved the touch screen, thought bout it for a few hours in the store and decided on the phone. Got it home worked great for all of a week then everytime I would type a text message my phone would add all these crazy letters and numbers on its own..aggravated?? definately! As if thats not a pain I had a plastic screen protector on it and then the touch screen quit working so I took the protector sheet off and it still wont work. The only application that works is the (dial) button. I try to hit any other button and it selects (dial) again. SO if I get a text message or need to look up a number I cant. I have tryed to take the battery out and re-upload the phone yeah that doesnt work. I havent dropped my phone or got it wet nothing it still looks pretty dang brand new.. Very dissapointed not sure if I even wanna get a replacement. A phone that has only touch screen is prob. a bad idea from the beginning!!!"

"whats to say good here? Requires proprietary earphones; samsungs own pc suite is not compatible with the phone, need to separately purchase a usb cord (as well as earphones); poor (very poor) battery life; key pad is too small and difficult to use without error. AND THEY HAVE VERY FEW COMPATIBLE DOWNLOADS EVEN ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE!!!!! DID ANYONBE AT SAMSUNG THINK THIS ONE OUT????"

"i do love this phone but hey guys you need to come up with a verrsion of pc studio that supports this phone. and why is nothing compatible with windows 7 yet. oh yeah and get rid of the restrictions that dont let me delete factory pics. oh and i cant change wallpaper on my lock screen. and it doesnt like third party apps because they always have to ask for permissions. and why is the new mobile email 5.00 a month on top of my data plan. but the feel and setup of the phone is fun. ive managed to work around some problems others ill just live with."

"I bought this phone, and its great! I've had no problems with it, the only bad part is you have to buy the USB cord that connects from your phone to the computer separately. Other than that, great phone, i give it 4 stars. The touch screen is easy to use, and the keyboard is nice and easy to type on, but not big. Its clear to hear and talk out of, and I love the features on it, Great Phone! I recommend it."

"I just bought two of these phones to update older nokia's. I love the keyboard and touchscreen, everything on the phone seems to work, except-you cannot sync it with a pc there is no software offered by samsung or anyone else that I could find after many hours of research I learned that the pc suite for the soltice a887 might work. So I downloadeds it but couldn't even try it because the drivers won't work with windows 7 and microsoft has none available either.What good is this phone with all the pda functions, a camera mp3 player etc. if you can,t sync it with your pc. Granted I could try to use vista or xp ( i already tried linux) but I'm not going to waste my time setting up a new os when I don't even know that it will work. Here is a phone that came out the same time as windows 7, but doesn't have any drivers av ailable for it at all????????? I am a very unhappy customer and will probably ship this back to att for a full refund."
