"When I originally got this phone, it had just come out and was one of the newest, most technologically advanced phones available. It surpassed all of my expectations, an was overall an amazing product. I lost it a few months ago, and now, even though there are newer phones on the market, I got this phone again because I absolutely loved it."

"I got this phone over a year ago when it was brand new. When I got a new Samsung phone I rooted this bad boy and upgraded to 4.1. I almost wish I had not bought the new phone. This one still works like a charm.
I never had a complaint about this phone, except the stock software for the gps was pretty bad."

"I feel that this phone is by far one of the best smart phones out there! It's got a beautiful look, feel and size. The OS is great along with the screen quality. The one and only draw back that this phone possesses is that there is no camera flash. Which rarely was a problem because the cameras quality is the best. This phone blows any iPhone out of the water! I would highly recommend this phone to anybody, as it will perfectly meet the needs of everyone!"

"One of the best phones i've ever owned. During all the hype of the i-phone era, i wouldnt have traded this phone for a more expensive i-phone for anything. Have currently updated to a samsung galaxy s III, but still have this phone and it still works great, will save for a backup or for my son when he gets a phone.Never had any issues that were related to the device(had issues with receiving txts for 2 days but found out it was service provider issues). Would definately recommend to anyone who wants features, fun, and great looking device with excellent screen and color quality."

"This was the first Samsung phone I owned. Was great when I first purchased it, however like most electronics, as newer phones and more complicated programs were released over time, this phone started to gradually slow down. It served me well for 2 and 1/2 years, until it was dropped and left in the rain. Otherwise, had no complaints about this phone. Samsung has improved their products substantially since its first venture into the electronics market. I hope they continue to improve their products to meet with the ever increasing demands of mobile communications."

"Samsung Captivate is a smart phone with excellent features. Specially the touch wiz is one of the best in this range of phones. Its currently on Android 2.3.5.(Gingerbread). The battery life lasts for a day and a half depends on the voice call you make. Its also called Samsung Galaxy S
Overall would suggest this is the best phone in the market at this price range. Off-course no comparison to the latest release by Samsung Galaxy S-3."

"I bought this phone a little more than 2 years ago. It was a great phone and I had few complaints. The only real shortcoming of the phone was that the camera didn't have a flash, so no night time photography.
Overall a great phone for its time, the best Android phone for AT&T by far when I bought it. That's why I decided to order the Galaxy S III on black Friday and I have been enjoying it since I got it two days ago. Hopefully it'll last as well as the Captivate did. ;)"

"Loved this phone took multiple drops. from high places minor dent in phone over a four year period. Att managed to screw this phone up with and over the air update, which was corrected after the phone was replaced i still use this phone from time to time when travelling."

"Overall, this is a great phone. It was my first Android phone. I have since upgraded to the Galaxy S-III. The reason I upgraded was that ever since I updated the Captivate OS to Gingerbread, it would randomly freeze and then shut down and restart. Sometimes I would not realize it did this and I missed important calls and emails. The updated OS also got rid of the Daily Briefing widget that I really liked."

"Great phone when it was new. It also lasted me an entire year after spending 20 minutes at the bottom of a lake. Tough, simple, reliable. Only complaint I consistantly had about this device were the Carrier bloatware and the completely useless GPS."

"I have had this phone for 16 months and I STILL love it. It is still working. It does have a short battery life (I turn the auto-sync off while at work), and occasionally it freezes when I am playing angry birds, but as a phone, it is perfect. As a pocket computer it is fun. I am still satisfied."

"I've had this phone for nearly 2 years, and it's showing it's signs of age in that it doesn't have as much RAM or CPU cores or better graphics as the newer phones, but this was the first really competitive Android phone on AT&T from Samsung (perhaps from all manufacturers at the time) and it really shined in how well it performed and how people have and still do rally behind it to provide customizations, including Android 4.0 and newer custom ROM's, even if they are unofficial. It's had it's share of drops and bumps, but still going strong and I'll use it until it gives up the ghost, because it can still play most modern games."

"I've had this device for 2 years now, and it still functions perfectly. I've bricked it many, many times, and even thrown it across the room (by accident of course), but it still works great. I am running CyanogenMod 9 on it right now, and it feels almost like new. I am upgrading to a Galaxy S III next month, but the Captivate will be missed."

"This is the phone that started my obsession with Android. The screen was something I've never seen coming from a Blackberry. It completely made me forget about my other obsession which was with the Iphone. The performance of the phone was great and got even better once I learned how to root it. It was fast, had its issues but was a great and reliable phone."

"I waited a long time for this phone. It was worth the wait. I liked the size of the screen. Now I moved to a bigger screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note. I still have the Captivate, just in case I need a back up."

"I have had this phone for about 2 years now and I still love it. Out of all that time I have only ever found one thing about this phone that I do not like and that is the fact that it has a very low amount of RAM, which causes it to run slow at times. Other than that tho, this is a great phone. This is actually my second Samsung cell phone in a row that I have owned, and I plan on continuing the trend. Samsung makes great products and everything that I have owned that they have manufactured has been top quality and I don't plan on ever straying to a different manufacturer for any of my future phones."

"This phone is a great starter smart phone for anyone, it is easy to navigate and has a simplistic physical design. However the one thing that I found extremely irritating is the lack of a physical camera button on the phone. other than that little quirk this was the best phone of it's generation."

"The quality of the phone is very good, battery lasts about a day. The screen quality is excellent. Applications that I can use and download are excellent. Just wish I could more easily get rid of the ATT application on the phone."

"I love this phone. I couldn't ask for more. Am a geek, I need options, so this fits best for me. And it is super durable. I dropped it ton of times, still its going great. I gave only 4 for performance coz it does get stuck sometimes when using GPS. Its been happening from the time I got my update for 2.3. I am waiting on Galaxy S3 from a while now. Hope Samsung gets it out soon before I go for another phone."

"The phone did everything I needed it to do and more. Even after 2 years of use I only had a few minor problems with it. It's durability is great, I can't tell you the number of times it was dropped and it never cracked or quit working. Even with using the phone all day for games and etc, the battery would still have a charge on it. Excellent for the busy professional."

"some early samsung captivates had GPS hardware issues where the phones GPS simply did not work. My Captivate on the other hand worked great! I never had any GPS issues at all.
up until the samsung note, the samsung captivate was the best phone i ever had.
it has everything you need in a smartphone and the 4 inch display is vibrant and spectacular.
it is a 3G phone. To me the phone had almost no cons and it is upgradeable to android 2.3
the only con would be the battery life. After two years of heavy use the battery would not hold a charge for more than a couple hours after heavy use. I never bothered replacing the battery though."
