"This microwave, at first glance, looked good but just over a year after we bought it things went south... quick. We should have been concerned immediately when we would hear grinding noices. The consistency of cooking was weak."

"My wife and I purchased this unit in December 2010. It worked fine for 6 months until the keypad went out. No problem, its under warranty. After 2 weeks of the replacement part being on back order (obviously a big problem) the Samsung authorized service man installed a new keypad. 7 months later,and out of warranty, the same problem again, only now the "popcorn" button is stuck in and the microwave will not shut off. We have several other Samsung products including a washer/ dryer and dishwasher We were going to finish off the kitchen with a Samsung range but now I think we will purchase another brand. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!"

"The design and features is what lead us to this model. Worked very well. Lasted only two years. Closed door and unit would not shut down. Cost more to have it repaired than what it cost to buy it. If you get this one get extended warranty, you'll need it."

"Best microwave ever for about 10 months. After being repaired it lasted about another 3-4 months. Just enough for it to be out of warranty. This replaced an OTR microwave that lasted at least 11 years, I think there is a design flaw where exhaust air is routed near the keypad and electrical circuits. The steam and oil, grease will short something out and you get an error code. Keep in mind, my last microwave lasted way longer under the same use. It's a real shame because I really loved it."

"That ominous -SE- message on the display panel greeted me the other morning. How silly of me to have expected a longer life out of a microwave that was poorly manufactured and faulty when I purchased it; I had to exchange it twice. On the thrice unit, I opted to call samsung and have them come to my house to check it out and repair it if possible (which the service tech promptly did). The problem? A misplaced electrical cable that was causing a short by being too close to another.
Fast-forward 2 years later, our lightly used unit is dead due to a poorly manufactured component. Unfortunately I am not able to give y'all a heads up on the repair cost for this particular problem BUT I can put it this way, I'm buying a new microwave instead."

"I bought this 25 months ago and the keyboard is now dead. Seriously? When you pay this much for an appliance you expect it to last more than 2 years. Notice how all the great ratings for this model are from owners of only a few months. The poor ratings are from folks who have owned it more than a year and had it die. This is the first and last Samsung appliance I will ever own. What horrible quality. I can't believe Consumer Reports lists this model as their highest rated after seeing loads of similar complaints to mine on this same model. Disappointed in CR and Samsung."

"Bought this in January 2010. Christmas Day 2011 it died with 18 people waiting for dinner. Short life is so disappointing. Serviceman said not worth fixing. Fan is, was, powerful but noisy. Pretty to look at, functions well, but I need something that will last longer than 2 years, especially for the inconvenience of a above range installation."

"This is a great over the range microwave for the price. It was awarded a Consumer Reports "best buy" designation in 2011 which is why I bought it. I replaced a GE spacemaker with this microwave and it is a better microwave in all respects except for defrosting. This microwave tends to over defrost and partially cook the food. Other than that it is a great microwave with tons of features."

"Don't review this thing until you've owned it for a while. If you go to frequently asked questions you will seen many comments about doors not latching and the recommended action is always that it will require professional service. Certainly Samsung America is fully aware of this problem because of the hugh number of questions on their own site; however, they won't do anything unless you purchased an extended warranty.

"This mw oven has failed twice in 20 months.
The first time was 6 months after buying it, repair was covered under warranty. Second time was the internet notorious "-SE- Error". You get really good at unplugging and plugging it back in. This time, my Samsung is not covered and is destined for the curb.

"We purchased this microwave as a replacement and overall we are pleased after a little over a month. The microwave heats food faster and hotter than our previous microwave. Installation was a breeze - we needed the microwave to fit into an existing space in our cabinetry and many manufacturers do not make microwaves anymore to fit older kitchens. We were very happy that Samsung still does! Only cons - the light over the range is too dim - more focused on back of stove - and the blue clock is difficult to read unless you are close to it. Would be nice if the keypad was a little larger and more sensitive - sometimes we have to touch the keypad more than once to make it work. Overall we are very happy!"

"The features are average on the unit, not very intuitive interface. Lacks power. Worst of all, the first unit stopped working within a couple of weeks and now the latch has broken on the second unit as well as the vent cover under normal use, after less than a year. Terrible design, terrible product. Would not recommend to anyone."

"Due to small house fire about six months ago we had to completely remodel our kitchen and chose this microwave to sit over our new range. We've had it about a month or so and it's worked fine for us. That is, until a couple of days ago. My wife was cooking something in the range and wanted to use the kitchen timer feature on the micowave. Somehow, she inadvertently started the the (empty) microwave. Because the turntable is so big (almost touching the door when it's closed) and it got so hot because the microwave was empty, it melted the plastic on the inside of the door and now the door won't close flush. Looking at the limited warranty it appears it limits Samsungs liability on just about everything. From what I found on a replacement parts site a new door would, including tax and shipping, will probably costs us about half of what we would pay to completely replace it.
Personally, I think having the door so close to the door that it can melt the plastic is a design flow but I'm sure if we try to submit a warranty repair, we'll be told it's an operator error and won't be covered."

"Have not been as thrilled with this microwave as I had hoped. It doesn't have the ability to turn off the turntable when popping popcorn. The option is there but turns back on when you hit the popcorn button. Also it doesn't have any power cook buttons like hitting 1 and having it auto cook for 1 min. It makes a lot of vibrating noise in spite of having checked all the screws to ensure it is tight. Had to slip a piece of foam in beside the side and the cupboard to make the noise even somewhat mangeable."

"We used this OTR oven for 18 month of gentle service. Strictly warming leftovers, boiling water, etc. Without incident or warning the keypad stopped functioning and the oven beeped continually until unplugged. Because it is out of warranty, Samsung offers no service or repair potions. So we have to send this expensive piece of junk to the landfill.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE"

"I bought this microwave based on the Consumer Reports product ratings and up until a couple of days ago I would have highly recommended it. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. I awoke to sounds of it beeping every few minutes and an error code of "SE". After a lot of research I have seen that this same code has appeared for a fair amount of others. Both the short and the long of it is that it can no longer be used with out spending good money after bad. I know that they don't make things now days to last a lifetime, but I would have hoped for it to last longer than less than 2 years. We are light users and I kept it very clean. I wish that I would have bought an extended warranty. I can only hope that I go the same way this did...quick and without warning and that someone would also say she was good while she lasted."

"This microwave was a top-rated Consumer Reports pick and seemed like a good value at the time of purchase. However, after 13 months this microwave quit. The display doesn't come on and we tried unplugging it for a few hours and plugging it back in as someone suggested. It is unbelievable that a microwave lasted only 1 month past a 12-month warranty. I will not buy this brand again. The microwave certainly looks nice and worked fine for the short time it worked. I recognize that technically we used this over a year, but in good conscience I cannot choose 1-2 years from the options below."

"We bought this based upon the rave reviews in Consumer Reports and it has lived up to its # 1 rating, except for reliability. Ordered it on-line and the first one received was dead right out of the box, but the vendor replaced it. The replacement died after a couple of months. A burned out sensor replaced under the Samsung warranty had it working perfectly again, until last week. Authorized service came again and replaced the same sensor. My warranty is up soon, and I'm told that after 30 days, I'm on my own. I'm not exactly brimming with confidence about how long this fix last will last, and I won't be surprised if I've tossed it in the trash a year from now."

"Having had a great experience with a Samsung purchase made in an emergency situation, we went back to Samsung for a replacement microwave that we had been considering for some time. We found a well designed and very roomy over the range model that we could install ourselves. And it came at a great price! The only thing I would change is the over range lighting; its incandescent when all the lighting on the Samsung fridge is LED and it is positioned so far back on the body of the oven that it only lights the back burners, and that not all that well. But other than that, I could not ask for better! Now if they would only build a gas range!"

"The microwave lasted 14 months before it died. It gave me an error code "SE" which meant that the panel had to be replaced. The cost would have been 80% of the original purchase price. The warranty was good for 12 months so just bought another microwave. Before then, it worked great. I never had a microwave break down before; so I didnt bother to get the extended warranty. Here it would have been a great idea."

The microwave has been in use for 6 weeks and we are very happy with it.
I only give 4 stars for the "design" category since the neon-blue clock display is completely unreadable from any distance beyond ~5 feet. It's too bad because I'm sure the designers recognized the problem when designing the microwave but decided to overlook it in favor of the blue light. Looks nice but isn't as functional as it could/should be."

"Just purchased this microwave and after I installed it I noticed that the mesh sandwiched in the door has one hole not punched out. It is annoying and can't be fixed without a new door. Ridiculous. See the picture. I haven't owned the unit long enough to know of other conditions. Will Samsung fix the issue?"

"Bought this to match other appliances, also Samsung. Installation wasn't too bad. Just be sure to check the exhaust fan. It is set up for top outside ventilation. You will need to flip the fan for recirculating exhaust. Hope it works as good as it looks. Definitely quieter than the 15 year old Whirlpool microwave we replaced."

"We recently purchased the Samsung Range and this Microwave. Everything works well and we are very pleased with the quality and appearance ot both products, BUT--We do a lot of cooking and it is important to have good lighting on the cooking surface.
Unfortunately the light on the microwave is placed behind the fan. It does a great job of illuminating the top of the range control panel and the wall. It does an awful job of illuminating the stove top. In fact, when I turn the light on it is actually harder to see the control panel! Had I known this before buying I would not have purchased nor will I recommend it to others, which is a shame as we are very pleased with the other Samsung products we've purchased: Refrigerator, range, 2 HD Tv's, Blu-ray player and clothes dryer--we highly recommend all of them.
Is there a "fix"--perhaps angled lights similar to those on airplanes? The best fix would be to switch positions of the fan and light."

"Good value needs some refinement in controls (too small panel with many buttons makes for small hard to read button labels, and needs backlighting to read on glossy surface), lacks normal countdown of time left for most cooking options, inadequate noise insulation for top of unit (at least with outside venting) allows a bit too much racket from cabinet above unit, needs option for something other than black sides for more custom look in various installations. Like the 5 speed fan though unsure need more than 3rd level as vent restrictions automatically ramp up speed depending upon back pressure in vent system (something they don't tell in the installation instructions), so I removed damper from vent adapter as this alone caused speed 1 on my system to actually run variably around speed 1.8-2.2 as the damper floated up/down a bit! Stainless steel fascia is very thin and is easily dented or otherwise damaged - so be very careful - mine came out of the packing with two slight impression/dents. Still, we like the unit so far, gives a finished look to the kitchen."

"This is the top-rated over-the-range microwave evaluated by Consumer Reports and that's why I bought it. It works really well but is missing a few features I thought were included, such as a warming feature that most other microwaves have. The manual will tell you to use Power Level 1 for warming but be careful: you might actually set it to 10 by mistake because that's what the display screen will tell you when you press "1". Also, the "Custom Cooking" feature is hard to understand no matter how times you read the manual. The fan works well with multiple speeds and isn't as loud as many others in this price range. Overall, though, it's well worth the money."

"This microwave oven is certainly an attractive addition to my kitchen. It does everything it is reported to do and it does it well, accurately and timely. The only problem is it also does everything quite loudly. I believe it is three times louder than the sisteen year old GE Profile it replaced. If you do not mind a "loud" appliance this microwave will ceretainly fill the bill for you."

"After researching Consumer Reports and saving up plenty of money for this micro., I am really dissapointed. I've had to call a repair tech. out twice and have only had this product a couple months. Sure it looks great, but the fan has come on out of the blue and wouldn't shut off, it squeeks, and now makes a terrible vibrating noise. I'm so sad!"

"I love this microwave both for how it works and for how it looks! My last microwave would overcook popcorn, but this one pops popcorn just right with very few kernels left over. It reheats 2-3 dinner plates, melts butter and chocolate for baking, steams veggies. The exhaust fan works really well, and the controls are easy to use, too. My only suggestion would be to have a "cheat sheet" for the different reheat and auto cooking options somewhere on the microwave, like inside the door, so I wouldn't have to look for the instruction book to know which button to push. Thanks, Samsung!"

"After about three months, the microwave began starting on its own. The controls began shorting out and blinking uncontrollably. Our only option was to have a service call when I wanted to return the oven. The microwave is now unplugged until three days from now when the service tech comes to visit. Very disappointing."

"It's a great performer so far, however, a design flaw is the handle. It doesn't look anything like Samsung's stainless refrigerator's handle and in addition, the handle gets VERY hot when you're cooking something on the front burner. Needs to be redesigned."

"I installed it myself so it couldn't have been that difficult. It has worked fine every time since installation. I especially like the "30 second" add button. I can watch the food cooking and if I know it's going to need more I hit the add button so cooking is not interrupted. I have nothing to complain about hence the five stars."

"Bought this item 1 month ago and it's working like a champ. A minor feature, but one I miss nonetheless from my old microwave, is the availability of speed settings. With my old unit, if I wanted to cook comething for 3 minutes I just hit #3. With this model, I either have to program in 3 minutes, or hit the "add 30 seconds" key 6 times. Also, I suggest the next version of the User Manual be more explicit as to menu options. For example, the section on sensor reheating should instruct the user to push 1 for dinner plate, 2 for casserole, and 3 for pasta."
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color

"Just installed microwave with a kitchen remodel and upon installation discovered one grease filter missing. Replacement is in progress from Samsung. When turned on for the first time the interior light did not turn on. Looking at the manual it appears it should turn on like all the other microwaves we've had. Using the microwave for the forth time the light worked (at least the bulb was not burned out). Then when the door was opened the light did not turn on. Removed the panel (instructions could be better, need to slide grille to the left) to get to the light, did a wiggle test and now the light works. Control panel sometimes doesn't respond to inputs but waiting 5 to 10 seconds and trying again, it then responds.
Control panel seems to have gotten better but will have to wait and see. Overall, if the light and control panel continue to work I will be happy with the purchase. Unit looks good in our new kitchen and has the features we like (turntable off, sensor cooking, quick start, and powerful fan or an over-the-range)."

"I love this microwave! The ONLY feedback I would make samsung is that the rack is awfully flimsy, making it tough for reheating casseroles, and the handle is a tad ugly with the rest of the slick design...brushed stainless on the handle with smooth stainless on the rest. Overall, great microwave...LOVE IT!! By the way, installation was a breeze...their mounting rack was so much easier than ones I have done in the past."

Cons: flimsy rack, handle doesn't match rest of microwave

"Stopped heating since yesterday. All of a sudden, microwave went off. Unplugged and plugged in back. Everything is normal except heating. There was no power fluctuation either. Good thing is still under warranty. I have many Samsung products and none failed for years. I guess, this model is of poor quality.

"A great microwave, once we actually received one that worked. It took three tries. The first one was severly banged in on a entire back corner. Back to the store, wait for new one to be delivered. Second one -- slighly dented corner, installed it anyway. It worked for 1 day, let out a funny odor and quit. Back to the store, wait for delivery of a new one. Finally, the third one worked and was undamaged. But, in the back of my mind, waiting for something to happen. Unfortunately, impression of quality not good. A quality rating should be added to the review page."

"I agree with everyone on their comments, lighting is fair to midland, fan is way too noisy on level 5. But to be completely fair to Samsung and future consumers, this is a great unit for the price. Reheat and normal heating options work well and the add 30 second option is the best!"
