"I know that nowadays most people want their phones to play music, surf the Internet, take pictures if not video, be a GPS, make coffee, etc. But I'm not like that. I want my phone to be a phone. I have two reasons for that.
First, there are places that won't let you bring cameras in, like some worksites, art exhibits, and concerts. If my phone doesn't have a camera, I don't have to worry about having to leave it at the door. And I don't find that I need a camera most of the time anyway.
Second, unless it somehow has a battery that can really last all day under full use, I don't want my entertainment center and my phone to share a battery. I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of music or games because I'm worrying that I won't have the power in case I need to make or take an emergency call. I have a separate device for entertainment, and that's how I prefer it.
And now we get to the Samsung m240 phone. Its battery life is excellent, probably partly because of its bare-bones hardware. This also makes it inexpensive. I don't actually surf the Web on it or do text messaging, but if I did those things, this phone can do that. It does voice memos too; that's useful, though with 14 MB of usable RAM it doesn't have a huge amount of recording time. And it has no camera or music player -- remember, for me those missing "features" are pluses.
One feature is egregiously missing, though. I would really have liked the ability to sync contacts with some other phone or device -- this phone doesn't have Bluetooth or even USB connectivity. I had to enter all contacts by hand, and when I eventually get another phone, I'll have to do it again. The power jack is Micro USB in format, but it can't transfer data; it's only a power jack.
Bottom line: This would be my ideal phone if only it could sync contacts. Simple, compact, easy to use, nothing I don't need."
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, no camera, no battery-draining entertainment features, compact
Cons: no contact syncing

"I like the battery life and how simple the phone is to use. The size is great not like having a phone the size of a netbook to talk on just so I can surf the internet. Down side it does not sync up with a PC even with the cable so I can not move my ring tones or pictures to it, I have to use a web service and pay. Also if a call is missed there is no notification light or tone, you have to open the phone and check all the time."

"The phone is compact and has a flip cover which I love. Reception and sound is good. I was looking at so many phones and should have noticed before purchasing...this one does not have a camera. But what is most frustrating is that it doesn't store incoming call history. If I answer the phone, that incoming number isn't stored anywhere in the phone. Call history is limited to missed calls and outgoing calls. I already know who I just called...why not store who called me?"

"This product won't record the call history...it won't allow me to return a call by pressing the Talk button...it doesn't show my missed calls."
"Have had this phone for month. Not one of Samsung's finest. Pro's: size, weight, display, keys, menu Con's: phone powers down while recharging; the volume/ringer control too easy to change during normal handling; below average audio quality; below average coverage not helped by poor antenna location (user manual recommends keeping your hand away from the bottom of the phone)"

"I had this phone for about six months. Soon after I started using it there would be no record of incoming or outgoing calls unless the person on the other end was already in my contact list. My wireless provider (Sprint) performed a reset of the unit. This returned the memory function for only a short time. I took it back to Sprint. They told me it was a known problem with this model when the memory reached a certain point (I had only 175 contacts out of a capacity of 500). Sprint was unable to provide a permanent fix, so I was obligated to replace the unit in order to respect people whose calls I missed and who did not leave a message."
