"I am audio/videophile on a bugget and utilize my equipment extensively. I purchased this set as an open box buy from the store as I would not be able to afford retail pricing. We purchased this television for use in our bedroom as we had a 57" display in the main room already. This set almost convinced me to step down the 2" of viewing space in our main viewing room as the picture was so much cleaner and did not produce much heat in producing that image. Very flexible and if you are wanting to tweak the picture to your preference there are many menues that allow you to make all the changes you could want."

Cons: have to be willing to pay for performance

"I can't think of a single thing that is wrong with this tv. It is probably the only appliance of it's sophistication that I haven't been frustrated with. I don't think there is anything that I have needed it to do that it hasn't been able to do. Actually, I'm waiting for alot of things to catch up so I can use features it already has."

"I bought this TV 18 months ago and I love it now just as much as I did back then. It has a beautiful machine like finish. It compliments all my furniture very well. It is perfect for my living room size.

"We love this television. The picture quality is amazing. The thickness of the set still amazes me. Anytime we have guests and they comment about the set I immediately tell them to go and look at it from the side to see how thick it is. I still cant believe that it is less that 2" wide. We are constantly getting positive comments from everyone about the television and how great it is. I would and have suggested this product to other people. Lightweight, durable, great picture quality, sound system is amazing. GREAT PRODUCT!!!"

"I really love this 55' 8000 series. It's what you've come to expect from a Samsung TV. It converts regular 2D tv to 3D (must have 3D glasses that are not included) and the design is very elegant. The only thing that's a bit annoying is that it does NOT come with a built in wireless connection. You have to purchase the external plug to enable it to become a wireless connection. Also, there are time when it won't connect to wireless network (after the tv has been turned of for a few mins) so you have to go to the menu and find the connection, select network, then insert password again (annoying). Overall, this is a great product."

"We bought this TV at one of the Big Box Stores after viewing all of their LED HDTV's. The picture quality was the best out of all the other brands. I literally stood back and looked at all the TV's on display and I could tell which one's were Samsung by the great picture quality. There just wasn't any comparison between the other brands. I highly recommend the whole line of Samsung HDTV's. We now have three in our family. Unless Samsung changes the quality of their products, I will always buy their brand. I will also never go back to standard programming again...HD all the way. One more thing...I am a person who does A LOT of research on a product before I buy, and I found that Samsung consistently had some of the best reviews out there. I've done the homework for you here people. Just by the Samsung TV/product and be happy! :o)
PS: You will probably want a sound bar or surround sound system to get the best media experience from your TV. A sound bar and sub-woofer will make most people happy. It makes movies come alive!"

"I purchased this tv as part of a 3D bundle package. The tv itself is one of the best I have ever owned. The picture quality and features available are outstanding. Relatively easy to navigate and setup. My only complaint is the the built-in rear speakers. I ended up having to buy a sound bar b/c our set was placed in a shelving unit with a cut out space for the tv. Other than the speakers I would say this tv is near perfect.....my wife is even becoming a fan of 3D now that more 3D movies are becoming available."

"This TV has garnered praise from pretty much every visitor that has come to our house. They are very impressed with the picture. The "popping out" effect of the 3D isn't as great as we thought it'd be such as the experience we had when watching Avatar. However, it is still cool. The auto dimming feature is very nice. We have it hooked up to the BD6900 Blu Ray along with a Pioneer Elite receiver. We really like how they sync with one another. This is my 2nd baby. My wife is my 1st and most important baby. :-)"

"Love the tv so far, although I wish it had a full internet browser. What's the point of having internet access if you've got limited internet functionality? However, the picture quality is great and as more and more 3D content becomes available, I've come to like it even more. Still, I wish the PIP function were easier to use and provided more options; it's just not that great right now."

"This is my very first HDTV, and I can't sum up the viewing experience in a sentence. It's amazing, and more than perfect. My friend has 55" Sony HDTV, but when I compare my Samsung 55" UN55C8000XF with Sony, Samsung TV outplays with every department. From Design to viewing experience, this is the HDTV I would recommend. I would say it's little costly, but your every dollar is worth spending on this TV. My final word is, just go for Samsung 55" UN55C8000XF if you are planning to buy a best HDTV. AWESOME!"

"Great TV, cutting edge when it came out. Never been dispointed with this product. 3D is very sharp and easy to use. Lots of built in features and apps. Utlra sharp picture and smooth motion. Precision local dimming offers a much better picture than even the 9000 series.
Few down sites, though everything has them. Unit is not compatible with newer bluetooth glasses (could be fixed if samsung would sell a USB bluetooth transmitter for the TV line). Only other complain is using Apps has too many steps to get to and can be slow loading and navigating but once you are in an app it works flawlessly. Newer 55D8000 does not appear to have these issues."

"I have been using this TV with my PS3 mostly for Blu-Rays and some games and the picture is stunning. I have the 2010 model and on 2011 they updated the virtual store layout in 2011. I think they should release firmware update to match so that we can purchase more and feel like we got more for our money since the 2010 models were pricier than the 2011 models. Besides that I have no complaints. Great TV overall despite the updates I wish I could have."

"Amazing crisp picture, even, and especially, Internet and PC video is super sharp. All-Share is a little bit slow displaying photo slide show, and that is probably more wireless signal dependent than anything else. Setting up All-Share and Media share is pretty much automatic. The Internet interface is not so intuitive, and a little bit confusing. - I wish there were an audio out to feed back to home theater amp, for those of us who have not upgraded our amps to HDMI yet.

"This is a very good tv. My only real complaint is the hdmi connections are in a bad spot and should be facing back or down and not to the side.

"I love this Television! The best TV I've ever owned. It has an incredible picture & color! The 3D is awesome, also. I had a big Panasonic Viera 3D brand new, & returned it & exchanged it for this Samsung C8000. The picture, the color, the brightness, the 3D- all around a much prettier Television. You can just put anything you are watching in to 3D if you wanna check it out! Really, it looks great. Have had no problems. Had a 46" Samsung HDTV for 2 years before buying this in Dec 2010. Loved that TV, also. The picture & color on a Samsung are unmatched."

"The image is sharp, razor sharp. My wife and I comment all the time how we can see the flaws in actors skin now. I love the 3D even with the minimal ghosting, however this seems to be a problem with some of the different movies more than the TV since some movies have no ghosting while others just can be adjusted right. Anyway, my only complaint is that the TV can't support .mp4 file formats. I know this is apples proprietary system, but come on, its the wave of the future. I knew it would be good because of my experience with Samsung (previous tvs, mobile phones, etc.) but this just goes above and beyond my expectations. Amazing video quality, definition and speed. 0.9" THIN!!!! The 3D feature is a click of a button. The Samsung Apps are fun to use and explore. I love, love, love it!! I've been playing with it and bragging about it since I set it up (easy and quick set up, by the way.) Wireless internet, love it, sexy design with the lit up "Samsung", love it, the picture take up the entire screen, which makes it appear even larger, great sound quality with hidden speakers. "I have four issues with this TV.
1. While ARC works with my ONKYO HT-S9300THX it is clunky. If I have other HDMI devices plugged into the receiver ARC will not detect the receiver. (This may be the fault of the receiver.)
2. The majority of Samsung Apps are poor and it seems that they are rushed into service without proper testing. Netflix for example has been a complete pain, it streams media great but the menu is the worst I have ever used. And the Pandora App's volume control does not work at all with my receiver through ARC. Completely unacceptable.
3. The so called local area dimming is atrocious and very noticeable with dark scenes. Though with most content it is not that noticeable.
4. Finally the remote, I will say GOD AWEFUL and leave it at that.
In conclusion this is a mediocre TV at best, but the overall physical design is amazing one of the thinnest TV's out there."

"I have really enjoyed this TV. The picture is amazing and it looks great hanging on the wall. The only complaints I have are price and poor viewing angle. The price on the TV was pretty steep, but I guess you get what you pay for (4 out of 5 stars on Value). The viewing angle is limited. To get the best picture quality you pretty much have to sit directly in front of the TV. You can't go too far left/right of center before the picture begins to wash out (4 out of 5 stars on Performance)."

"The picture is awesome and the #D capabilities are very good. not as good as the movie theatre, but pretty darn close. Now I wear glasses and I know that can effect the 3D image. Pretty nice playing Call of Duty or other Video games on such a large screen. I highly recommend this TV. I bought a wall display and had it Calibrated and that made a load of difference."

"I bought this last year and have loved most of the features. What is lacking are some of the apps. I bought this one hoping to use Netflix but if the video I want to stream is in HD quality, forget it. But this review isn't as much for the apps as it is for the TV.
It is extremely light and the picture quality is amazing! Some of the menu's don't make sense but with some stumbling around you can figure it out. I don't use the 3D feature very often but when I do, it provides an amazing picture and experience.
I did have to have the main mother board replaced (Samsung Warranty) due to it not working very well with digital TV but they sent out a technician and got it all fixed up and it is running great. Do yourself a favor and buy the qwerty remote for this as well, without it you have to type it in rotary telephone style from your remote and it is not fun.
If you buy this get the 3D Blueray system as well. It has a wireless module to connect to the internet (the TV requires an additional module anyway) and upgrades 2D DVD's to 3D on demand! My father has a different brand and has to wait 2 or more minutes for it to open once it is powered on and another couple of minutes once the DVD is in before it will begin playing. This one is almost instant. Amazing!
I would purchase one of these again! Great picture and sound quality, amazing response time, very narrow and hardly produces any heat."

"I wanted this tv for the mlb app and I am very disappointed in the quality of the picture. I have a very fast internet connection and I have the tv hardwired to my ethernet and the picture is still very poor. We use the Netflix app and the picture is great, but the screen has a very annoying flicker about every 60 seconds.I have a Xxxxxxxxx tv in the bedroom using a Xxxx box on wifi and the picture is great on the MLB app!"

"This is a very good tv. There is no eye strain in vewing the picture. The only problem I have with this tv is the placement of the speakers. The sound seems to go more to the back of the tv then to the front of the tv. This tv is not wall mounted, so this is a concern.
One other item I would like to mention. When watching a blu-ray movie on the tv I have to turn the volume up to 80% (sometimes higher) to hear what is being said. I do not have to do this when watching regular tv."

"This is a great TV to own, to the most part I have done everything, installing, connecting and configuring including blu ray and audio system and home theater system. But, when you connect to external speakers, the audio configuration is bit unfriendly with Samsung. I am connecting to a top of the line receivers, everything I figured out it to work, the Internet TV is also good, but no audio from the internet TV, video is good but no audio . All the following are very good with both video and audio, like the TV, blue ray, radio Am/Fm, and any other external HD combatible players, it is fine. But, the audio on the Internet channels is awful, I am waiting to fix it, I will update this page later if the audio is a Sam sung issue or third party stuff like the receiver issue?."
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: external speaker audio?

"The design of this TV is great and the picture is amazing. The technological aspect is easy also, just hook up a LAN or WiFi to the tv and you can download updates directly to your tv, just like on your PC. Currently Samsung definately has the best products for Entertainment in the Market."

"Got this TV in January and am still blown away by how awesome the picture looks. Feels like I'm right there with the characters with the size, contrast, and color difference this tv is compared to my 6 yr old sony plasma. It's just a fun tv to watch and I find myself finding something to watch just so I can turn it on :). 3d feature is fun but I find that my eyes get a little tired after awhile so can only watch 1 movie or show before I need to take a break though can't wait to try out the ESPN 3d feature this fall with college football!"
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, definition, nice design
Cons: a little expensive (but worth it)

and i cannot and would not even consider buying another brand when i decided to get a larger screen for our new home.
it has an excellent picture, i caanot wait to try out the 3d but have not been able to get my glasses from Best Buy yet, but i have no doubt it will be awesome as well. i will update this reveiw when i do get them.
