"I was very leery of switching to this type of phone because all I had ever used was flip phones. But now that I have made the transition I'm glad I did! I am very pleased with this phone and some of the features are a major plus for me! It's a great phone for calling & texting which is basically what I wanted & use it for. It also has good battery life. It has lots of features & settings that took me a little time to figure out. But after I got familar with everything & set it the way I wanted it; It's very easy to use! I read the reviews on this phone before I got it & to most of the people that complained about it, I say - They apparently didn't get familar with all of the features & settings. As for using this phone to surf the web - It's display is to small for me to see even with my glasses on. I do wish this phone was able to do video! But overall I'm very happy with it."

"The entire premise of a basic phone is that it is "basic." I hate to say it, but this phone is crammed. There are too many features stuffed into this phone, and all of them are very mediocre. I feel that if Samsung had concentrated more on the more important features, i.e. texting software, camera, and accessibility to important things like pictures, contacts, and messages. This phone has very few ringtones, and none of them are very good. The camera is the worst I have ever dealt with at 1.3 megapixels and no zoom. But, with that said, every feature on the Intensity II that is also on the Galaxy Nexus is about a third of the delivering power. That might sound bad, but with the consideration that the phone is a basic phone, it is amazing; the only exception to that ratio is the camera. It really doesn't get worse than that. And this phone has a 2.5 millimeter headset jack, meaning that your regular iPod headphones won't work, along with just about every other pair you'll ever find."

"Pathetic battery life aside, this phone lasted less than 3 months. I have always purchased a Samsung cell and after this phone it is doubtful I ever will purchase another. In the few minutes time between calls half the screon went white and the other half was unreadable. I was told the phone was "abused" although it was sitting on a desk at a car dealership while we were filling out paperwork with the salesman. The screen was fine when a call came in and gone when I attempted to call the person back only minutes later. It was not dropped, nor wet, nor placed in a pocket or purse. Just sitting on a desk. Avoid this phone like the plague unless you only intend to hang it on your wall like artwork as it obviously cannot handle even delicate use. Very disappointed as my Alias I is STILL working great after 5+ years."

"The only thing I would change is the location of the VOICE COMMAND button. I keep hitting it while lifting the phone from my holder. I wish I could find a better holder... then the problem would probably go away. ;-) It can take a licking, too."

"I really like this phone a lot. The only thing I don't like is when you are texting using the full keyboard there is no shift key to capitalize only one letter without skipping down to the next line. But it has an amazing battery life. Needs better ringers that come standard on the phone. The pre installed ones on this phone are kinda annoying. Other than that I love it."

"I don't like the lock on the phone, don't like the way it responds when attempting to answer an incoming call. Don't like the phone in general and really didn't like the salesperson who recommended the phone. This is partially my fault in that I was in a hurry to get to something I enjoy rather than spending an hour waiting to buy a product that I don't really care about just because I was replacing an equally poorly designed product that became unusuable due to a broken charger port. Long story short, I don't like cell phones at all."

"I went from a flip phone to this phone and I am an avid texter, so they keyboard was great. Granted, it took me a few hours to get used to the QWERTY style, but once I got it mastered it was very easy. The rubbery feel of the keyboard is nice, it grips to your fingers well. I like the conversation style of the text format. That way if a friend sends me a delayed text, I can go back and see the conversation in order to send an accurate reply rather then having to go from inbox to outbox.
Since I am a big texter, I send all three types: regular texts, picture messages and voice messages and the battery always lasts long.

C) The camera does not offer a zoom. I like how you can adjust the brightness, but I wish you were able to zoom in on objects with the camera.

"This phone is supposed to be an upgrade from its predecessor. Its the opposite. To start with, the "locked" feature was changed. The phone must be unlocked even to answer (or ignore) a phone call. Which means that call you might have answered on the last ring, goes un answered. This lock feature takes twice as long to unlock as any other cell phone lock I have encountered, which means precious seconds pass when being fast with your phone counts. But perhaps this is better at keeping "butt dialing" to a minimum? No. I have pocket dialed more times with this phone than any other I have owned. Which always baffles me when the phone lockes me out of a text conversation. If I send a text, and the reply takes more than three seconds to come in, I am forced to unlock the phone. The QWERTY board has been shuffled around from its predecessor into a less comfortable layout. The QWERTY keys are poorly balanced making compressing them down far enough to register, challenging and hard on the hands. If a nice background or ringtone are desired they cant be found on the phone. There are only 9 pictures found when the phone is activated. I distinctly remember thinking "What? thats it? thats so lame, these aren't even good pictures! Isnt this supposed to be the upgrade from the last one?" (which had lots more pictures and ringtones to choose from.)"

"I used to have the Samsung Intensity (the first Model)
But now they came out with the Intensity 2 for Prepaid and i upgraded... It is a great phone. The ONLY thing i wish it had, is a longer battery life. I've had about 5 other Samsung Products... they have all been good and reliable."

"this is my first phone, and im very pleased. although it isn't a smartphone, it kinda feels like one. i would describe it as a smart unsmartphone, (haha). i love the design, except that when i slide it open it feels insecure, but that may be because i dropped 3 times in 2 days. also, when i dropped it, onto tile floor at the movies, concrete outside, and wood inside,; i'm not sure which one caused it but there's already a scratch. its barely noticable, but if little imperfections are a pet peeve, then its a con. i like that there is sort of an app store, but there's only (maybe) 100 apps, and, i counted, just 8 of them are free. some are 2$ a day! just download the trials first, what one game on a touchscreen may feel like, its a whole nother story with buttons. sadly, its not high def, no video, and not the greatest paint coating, but, cool colors, rock-bottom cheap, great display, minus fact its not high def, lightweight, great speakers, and smart design. i love the design and there are a lot of great features, like total custimization. all in all, its a great first phone!"

"I enjoy this phone for not being a android it has nice features and apps. being I use it for Music at work and multi media and texting for general use it is very functional for this. While I like it I do wish it had more apps and a soft siliconecover for when a extended life battery and rear cover are installed"

"I haven't had too many problems with the phone, a few times it has locked up and I had to remove and reinsert the battery to get it to turn on.
It is great for texting and making calls which is really all I use it for, I have taken a few pictures and the camera seems ok, the only real complaint that I have is the voice command button is in a horrible place, I am always hitting it by accident."

"I've had this phone for about three months now. I was very exited with it until a couple of days ago, it started to get slower and froze many times. Also, the send button isn't reacting to my click. Another thing and the most important thing is, I can't receive calls from anyone. I called myself with a different phone. the other phone was calling me perfectly. however, I did not receive it. All of my SAMSUNG phones have broken, but i wanted to give SAMSUNG another try. But I now know...I will never buy a SAMSUNG product again... EVER!!!"

"Didn't want to go all out and get a smart phone and pay the extra per month fo internet access. Just wanted a decent phone that work good with no issues giving us basic features: texting, pics, address book, and of course make phone calls too. Wish it had video messaging capabilities though like our last phone. Other than that, this phone has worked great with no issues. Just what we were looking for."

"Great phone, easy to use easy to learn. When I signed up and did not buy extended service I thought this phone would hold up like all the others I had over the years, so just to be safe i purchased a hard cover style case. I happened to lean against my car seat and the case after a few months of great service, and the display cracked all the way across. Verizon says too bad, and I understand, my bad for not shelling out the extra bucks. Wish Samsung would help( hint, hint) but thats ok too."

"Pretty fast texting when you open it straight to the keyboard, easy to respond to someones text. Has a slight delay when opening to get to the keyboard it thinks about how its unlocking itself or something. Key are decent sized all the letter are easy to hit the numbers on the qwerty board are harder to hit if you got bigger fingers"

"If you're looking for a nice looking texting phone that doesn't cost much, this is the one. I did have a problem with the received calls menu not showing numbers that called me, though, but I am trying to get it fixed. If you want a smart phone, this is not for you."

"The phone simply freezes up sometimes. It will be laying dormant and I'll pick it up to use it and nothing happens. Won't light up, keys won't unlock, and you can't get it to respond to anything. After a few minutes of 'messing' with it, it will finally start working. There are times when the back light won't go off and drains the battery. I have it set to automatically lock after 7 seconds and it won't half the time. I can also go into the menu sometimes and the highlighter will be continuously scrolling like a button is pressed when it's not.
On the up side, when it works correctly, it's a great phone. The sound quality of the loud speaker is good. The ear speaker sound quality is good. At 1.3mp, the camera is OK."

"The only reason I don't give 5* is because the default ringtones are week I can't heard them. They need better default ringtones , alarms, text and calls.
The user manual is incomplete. They don;t say about the calendar icon came on 24hrs before every event and/*or camera zoom.

"I got this phone as a replacement in April of this year. Then, in May, It fell out of my pocket in my horses pasture. Well, six months have gone by, and my brother found it yesterday. Under some weeds that had accumulated. I plugged it in, and it turned on. It turned on. After sitting in the sun, in the rain and in the cold. It turned on. The screen has lines through it(like static marks on a television screen. All that you would expect from moisture.)and the camera is busted. Won't work at all. I have gone six months without a cell phone and I'm glad to finally have one. Working well or not. Now hopefully I can get an replacement soon.

"I have had two ot these and neither one will keep time correctly. Verizon has no answers and Samsung said not a known issue...will need to mail phone back to them. I need my phone. Otherwise this phone would be good. When you touch button to view time once you see one time, touch to unlock and the accurate time comes up. Makes no sense, but has caused alarms and reminders not to function. This is a problem when depended on each day!"

"Poor design and difficult to navigate even the simplest of features. Changing Ringer requires too many steps. Alarm only works when power on. Can't download Pics and can't get Driver from Samsung Website. Rounded edges means I've dropped it 3 times in the first week. Last phone got dropped exactly once, in 3 years! In other words, it's the exact opposite of my last phone. Guess I'm stuck with it for a year."

"Samsung electronics, such as TVs, are excellent, but this phone is not. The Bluetooth capability fails to connect half of the time in both of our automobiles. The automatic lock often fails to set itself. Verizon phone messages received when the phone is off often go unannounced when service is turned backed on, and the day/date of messages are difficult to track down. Decent listening quality, as well as battery life, are its only virtues."

"I should probably first say I've been at AT&T for 12 years and only ever had Sony Ericssons and iPhones. But I was surprised to see other reviews that LOVED the messaging, because I don't. In 'Conversation' view, the texts aren't always in order and some get stuck in the new position all the time. So for a while, every time I texted my mom something, it looked like she responded with "Alert the news channel!" every time for like a week. So, that could start some drama!
Also you have to keep your inbox below at least 270 because every time you click on 'new messages' or receive a text, an alert pops up you have to click on first "Warning: low memory. Erase text messages to receive new ones"
Cleaning out your inbox wouldn't be so annoying if you could leave one finger on a button to hit 'scroll' and 'mark' with the other, but the buttons are right next to each other on the qwerty keyboard and you're moving your one thumb back and forth between two tiny buttons. If you're steadying the phone with your left hand it makes me wonder why they didn't assign 'scroll' to the big open button on the left?
As for other things, I like the voice-call feature a lot and it's never had problems with making calls or receiving calls or freezing up or anything. It's also good too that you can stick any headphones into this phone, instead of having to buy one for the phone."

"Lots of problems with this phone from day one. It would turn itself on and off all day long. Had to be replaced after 2 days.New one will still get into a mode by itself. Screen impossible to see in bright sunlight. Lock/unlock mechanism either slow to unlock when you want to or unlocks itself with the slightest pressure. It's hard to find a suitable phone if you don't want or need data."

"Although this phone may not be the fanciest phone around, it is an excellent phone for what it is. Its design is fantastic and it feels really compact and sleek. It may take some time to get used to the slipperiness of sliding out the QWERTY keyboard, but you'll get over it within a day. The keyboard works fine, although since the Q, A, and Z keys are shifted to the left it may feel unnatural at times.
As for battery life, it lasts for a solid amount of time. During a vacation I constantly used this phone all day, and it lost 2 bars, which is good by my standards.
The camera is very nice, and the quality is surprisingly impressive. It's a shame there's no video.
The only problem I've had with it was when it froze up once when I turned it off. I had to let the phone run out of battery to get it back up, so I'm afraid I'll have to dock off a point in performance."

"THe intensity II was intended to be an upgrade however it has been more of a point of frustration even greater than a bus load of hyperactive 5 year olds.
The overall layout of the keypad is rediculous. If one does not have hands like a skeleton then they have difficulty hitting the correct key.

"I replaced a Motorola slider with this phone. I was disappointed in the slider, but this one seems more robust. I did not want a Smart phone, so this one is a full-feature regular phone. The keyboard has good sized buttons. The screen is not a touch screen, a major drawback of the Motorola. The display is a good size, and is really bright. The phone is a bit large but not terrible. Reception is good, and bluetooth connectivity is easy."

"I have had this phone for about a month now,and it has been good. The design is good for messaging but that is about it. I have found that the display is okay, but the speaker on the speaker phone is a little cruddy, and same with the ear speaker. I have found that the texting is a little sluggish, and the wallpaper resets itself. I would really like to see some improvements. I have found that the lock feature is nice, but when I receive a text, and the phone is locked, when I unlock it, and try to open the text, it will not open (only sometimes)! Overall this is a good starter phone, and I would like to see some improvements in the operating system, and the device its self."

"I got this phone after I lost my LG Chocolate at an amusement park. I had that phone for a little over 3 years. Even though it still worked like new I was excited about a new phone. The Intensity II was the only phone in the store that had a keyboard without a data package fee so that's what I got.
From the get go this phone was disappointing. It locked up daily. Last night it went to a black screen with "USB memory mode" on it. Today it would not turn on at all. I took it to Verizon and they would not take it back. They said it had gotten wet.
I know people who have dropped phones in water and have been able to dry them out. At no point was my phone dropped into any liquid!
I have researched online and found many similar stories. I will never by another Samsung product again and would advise anyone else against it as well."

"To be fair my wife has the same phone and it works fine for her.
I had to get a new replacement phone after two weeks because it wouldn't keep a charge. Verizon sent me an extended battery and cover but it still didn't remedy the problem. Call quality is terrible with this phone. Speaker phone is awful and they have buttons in the wrong places. You wind up hitting the buttons all the time and it gets annoying.
The camera works good but there is no flash and no video which I wasn't told when I got the phone. My fault for not asking but for such an expensive phone one would think it would be included. The keyboard is good, and it texts fine which I just started doing but it does take a long time to send messages.
My 4 year old flip phone worked better in everything but texting. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. Samsung could have done a lot better with this phone."

"It's only the first day but I'm very happy with my choice so far. The ability to set multiple alarms was very important for me because I've always used my phone as my alarm clock. The variety of ringtones to choose from let me assign a unique sound to most of my contacts. The camera takes fairly decent pictures, too.

"I have had my new phone for a month and its very easy to learn, set up and use. If you are looking for a phone with a simple design and not all the bells and whistles of some of the new phones, this is a great choice! Reasonably priced and user friendly, the Intensity II is attractive and reliable. "I loved this phone!!! It was cheap but still worked great. I got flamingo red... it was the cheapest color but didn't look too bad. The screen was easy to read and bright. I wish it was a touch screen though. I dropped this phone countless times. A bunch of it's falls were extreme, like 5 feet with extra thrust.... the worst damage I ever did to it was a scratch on the screen (but it was a cooool shape so it was OK) and it turns off when you drop it because the battery alwaysssss falls out but it's easy to get back in. It was the perfect size to fit in my jeans pocket and was light. I am a hugeee texter and the keys were easy to press, responsive, and appeared on the screen quickly. It was generally easy to navigate, but the 'my place' setting that comes on it is a bit confusing.... however you can adjust it and personalize so much! It was crazy. At the end of it's 2 years with me, I swear it was nothing like what advertised like... it featured my favorite color themes, cool fonts, large prints, etc. The battery life lasted 2-3 hours after constant texting and minor calling, 15 standby and minor use. Charges from dead to full in about 20 (with an iGo charger.... v. helpful.... cheap.... must look into! just google it. iGo charger.) This phone was easy to navigate as well. The camera was an easy shutter and could make cool sounds. The shape fits great against your ear. Really, I think I had about 250 extreme drops on hard surfaces such as cement and wood and maybe ended up with.... 5 scratches, no cracks, and still a fully functional phone. My only 3 cons (next to 15 pros!!) were the camera memory- only stores 100 pictures, camera detail- only 1.2 mp camera which was still absolutley A-OK by me, and it was sometimes a bit slow- but really only when dowloading things like voice messages, picture messages, ringtones, and games. There weren't enough games offered but I don't really care because everything else GREAT made up for it.
If you are looking for a new phone, just PLEASE take my advice and GET THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great!!!"

The quick start manual is lacking but the full version that is online at samsung is very helpful and explains how to use the features."

"This phone is a good economically friendly phone, but it is not cheap. It has pretty good desighn aspects, asthetically and functionally. "This phone feels like a decided step down from any other phone I've had.

"This phone is great if, like me, you do not want to get into the whole smart phone debacle. I was looking for a) battery life. b) battery life and c) battery life. Ok, and ease of use. My previous phone wouldn't make it through the day and needed charging every night. The Intensity II has gone so far as almost 72 hours straight- with heavy use. It sounds loud and clear and of course, for us texting junkies it is a sweet phone. Hope you like it as much as I do."

"I have been using this phone for a little over a month now. Have had to charge the battery only twice so far. I'm sure I don't use it has much as others that have written reviews, but my battery seems to last a lot longer than most.
Disappointed with no video capabilities, or being able to tweek your pictures. Not really a big deal though.
It does have a fairly good music player. It will play my iTunes m4a files. It even plays the songs I downloaded from iTunes. You CANNOT, however, use any song you put on your phone as a ringtone. VERY disappointed with that. I have since found a way to do this without using different websites. It is a fairly lengthy process though.
The keyboard seems to be nice. I'm not much of a texter, so I'm not used to using the keyboard yet. Right now it is a little awkward getting my short stubby thumbs to move right. lol
Over-all, I would say this is a pretty good phone. Just remember, you can't have everything. Unless you want to pay for it. I am quite happy with this phone and would recomend it to others."

"i do not like this phone i have had it for 2 weeks now. It is a very sensitive phone i put it in my backpack all day took it out and it was broke. Cannot stand this phone. The back comes off easily which is a pain , the keyboard is very close together i had a lot of misspells. The phone is nice while it lasts."

"This phone is pretty good. It has a few querks and a few missing features that I wish it had in comparison to my other phone. I am having problems hooking the phone up to my computer to transfer music onto the SD card so I can listen to music on my phone.
Also, this phone does not allow you to take video's.
Another weird querk is that the phone will not allow you to put items on the calender for days that have already passed.
Finally, when I connect my bluetooth to the phone, I hear high pitched whines in the background of the bluetooth when there is a silence."

"My wife and I have both have had this phone for 6 months+. We both think it's the worst phone we have ever had. Even when you lock the phone, it'll start doing things when you happen to touch your clip case against things like a seat belt or anything else that might come in contact with your case. When you actually try to unlock the phone, it's hard to press the middle of the menu button perfectly(the 2nd button in the unlock sequence). If you don't press it just right, you'll have to start over or it may popup with one of the options you have set for the different directions. You can choose the single button to unlock but it'll make calls in your purse or clip belt without you knowing it anytime it touches something. Can't wait till our contact is up!!!"

"Our old cell phone was nine years old (believe it or not !). It was also a Samsung, and still going strong. However, we knew it was time for some newer technology. We use a pre-paid calling plan, and the Samsung Intensity II fit the bill nicely. We like the simplicity of easy calling and easy texting. The QWERTY keyboard feels really great. Even our not-so-nimple fingers find it very comfortable and easy to use. The Intensity II also has many higher-end features that we will likely sometime use."

"I bought this phone because I also bought a Galaxy Tab. So i didn't see the need for a smart phone. Easy to use and I really like the full keyboard for texting. One minor pet peav of mine is when you read a text message on the conversation page it still will say that you have a new message unless you individually click on the part of the conversation that has been unread. Other than that it does everything I need it to do. The Galaxy Tab does the rest."

"While the Intensity II is a visually appealing cell phone, it has a few shortcomings worth investigating and solving. Retrieving a contact is cumbersome with the need to input a complete name based on storage at time of input. Remembering specifics of data entry can be challenging on a daily basis, much less for the aging population. The ability to have all names display and eliminate as added spelling is added would save time and frustration levels.
The calendar has a pre-loaded nuisance of ECO day and a "short" explaination for me to read and expand my ecological conscience. IF I wanted this information, I am perfectly capable of searching for it on the WWW without having it foisted on me by your company and filling my schedule space. However, it is easy to read and I like the voice announcement of who is calling."

"Phone constantly restarts. Poor quality. Menu takes forever to come up. Freezes for no reason. Resends the last text message every minute! Battery life is seriously non existant. keyboard is odly shaped and quite confusing. Camera quality is the worst in the world, my Moterola Razer from years ago was 10X better than this phone, and still works. I switched back to it because this phone has no Reliablilty. Its my third phone in 4 months. Everyone i know thinks it is horrible and should have never made it to the market. Save yourself the greif and do no purchase this phone unless you like to get frusterated with under developed technology."

"This phone is exactly what I wanted - a phone for making calls and texting. Phone clarity is excellent and texting with the full slide out QWERTY keyboard is great. The phone has all the features I need. Taking pictures and sending them off in a text is easy. I have set up the Menu direction keys to quickly access the features I use most often - texting, notepad, stop watch, and quick access to the calculator, bluetooth on/off, media center and alarm clock. Perfect phone with lots of features and no data plan needed."

"This phone is my first phone and I love it. It's fast except sometimes i experience very unfrequint slight freezes. It didnt come with any games (which I wouldn't use anyway), it had a good amount of ringtones, some extra menu layouts and wallpapers, the messaging experience is very good and unlike some phones it displays your whole conversation with one person in one window, and the calling is good, verizon wireless not being the best at voice clarity anyway. In all it's an awesome messaging phone."

"Okay so its not a droid or blackberry or iPhone, but if you're just looking for a phone for texting/calling this phone is awesome. The reception appears to be above average, the battery life is amazing and I "lost" my phone this last weekend and found it a day later in a slushy parking lot with truck-sized tread-marks going over it and it still had battery and still worked fine... I can't even tell that anything bad happened to it. So if you're in the market for a phone, get a Samsung-the last, and they hold up!"

"I got this phone about two weeks ago and I was excited to begin using it. When I got home I found the menu items, themes, ringtones, photos and layouts were not what I expected. Overall, there was not much in the way of personalization regarding the features listed above. I wish you could use your own mp3 files as ringtones, a crop edit option for pictures would also be nice. The lack of menu personalization also leaves something to be desired. Also, the confirmation dialog box pop ups that appear after ever selection are somewhat bothersome. The pros of this phone are the earpiece is loud and clear and the compact size and weight enables the user to fit it easily in a front pocket. The camera also takes pretty good pictures for a 1.3 megapixel unit."
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, photo editing features, custom ringtones (personal mp3)

"I have had to replace the phone twice already and will be replacing it again tomorrow. The phone keeps freezing or going completely dead. When it dies, usually in the middle of the night while sitting on a table, it won't allow me to turn it back on. I have to pull out the battery.
Saturday the phone froze, something I didn't realize until I had a minor situation and needed to make a call. Driving down the road is not the time to be trying to remove a hard case and pull out a battery to reset the phone.
I got the phone about 25 - 30 days ago. At one point the cell phone company kept the phone for half a day and reloaded the software. It froze about a week later.
I would love the phone IF it worked properly. I would switch to another phone but the cell phone company will only move me to a cheaper phone with fewer features."
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, bad software?
