I have connected my television to my computer with an HDMI cord for video and a cord from the imac's headphone jack to the pc/dvi audio in on the tv.

I still am not getting audio. Do I have to set something on the tv so that it recognizes audio from the computer?

Have you tried to check if your PC is set to output sound from HDMI instead of the PC output audio jack? HDMI is capable of delivering both audio and video to another device such as a Television. If not, you may need to buy a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable to connect from the "Audio Out" on your PC to the "Audio In" of the TV. On some PCs the "Audio Out" can be either as "Rear Out" or "Front out".

Are any apps available for a UN48B8000XF TV?

This is a 2009 LED TV model and will not be capable of Samsung Apps. Only 2010 and 2011 LED models will have this functionality.

Can apps work a series 6000 LED TV purchased in December 2009?

Unfortunately, the 2009 Models are not compatible with Samsung Apps since it requires either the Internet@TV or SmartTV version available only after 2009. Ergo, 2010 and 2011 models only of Samsung TVs have this capability.
